Fuck alligators. Protecting apex predators is the dumbest thing of all time. All they do is kill everything you care about and love. That is their purpose. So it’s a great thing for them to be rare and confined to remote places. This idea, we have to learn to live with them, is bullshit. Alligators, crocodiles, coyotes, Cooper’s hawks, they don’t last long in my world. I was driving through one of the nicest neighborhoods in Naples on Thursday night, and every couple of hundred yards were panther crossing signs. Be careful, wouldn’t want you to hurt a panther. What do they think a panther is doing cruising through residential neighborhoods? Looking for children and pets to eat. The crazy continues. Liberalism truly is a mental disorder.
My uncle has a 40-acre orange grove in Manatee County, and he has a few cattle on the side. Every once in awhile a big gator will walk in and settle down in his stock pond without him knowing it. He’s lost two of his dogs over the years to gators that he didn’t see and eliminate. He went in the water one time just like the guy in the video to try to save his Rottweiler. Gator was about a 10-footer, he got ahold of it in waist-deep water and tried to wrestle it back to the shore. It ended up spinning and raking him with the back claws, and ended up killing his dog. He still has the scars on his chest and stomach from that encounter. He wrestled a dinosaur and lost. But killing his dog was the last thing that dinosaur ever did.

the area i grew up in is dotted w/lakes & when i was a kid we swam in them at night on a regular basis–i’d never let my kid do that now–since gators have been protected they are everywhere–
gators can reproduce at about 8′,it ought to be fair game on anything 9′ or bigger–
They only started protecting them when we were kids, Tampa. They were fairly rare, and fairly small. You protect things for 60 years and they become prehistoric. I grew up living on a lake, we swim in it all the time and never worried about gators at all. You certainly can’t do that now.

I just think it’s funny how animal rights people don’t remember that some of the animals they want to save eat other animals they want to save. Like the time a few years ago when some fairy at a lake in Florida was bitching at a dad and his kid for catching a bass. What the fuck does he think bass eat? Tofu?
