Holy Shit!! The author makes some bold, even outlandish, conclusions. I am skeptical. After all, haven’t we learned by now to be skeptical about EVERYONE and EVERYTHING no matter what? Sadly, such is the state of the world we live in.
So, I did some vetting … it was fast and easy. I think the author actually understates the severity of the problem.

Let’s look at recommendation #2 in Recruiting.
Recommendation: “Establish a “whole person” evaluation framework that deemphasizes the use of standardized academic tests.” [Emphasis, mine]
Reasoning: “Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Validation Review Committee (AVRC) has implemented 15 optimized rating changes in the last year resulting in an 18 percent increase in Navy applicants qualified for those ratings, with larger increases for female (40 percent), African American (37 percent) and Hispanic (27 percent) applicants. The first real data from those changes show that on average student enrollment in nine of those technical ratings has increased 13 percent for African Americans and 23 percent for Hispanic Americans. Leverage AVRC initiatives to optimize rating entry standards and explore the use of a “whole person” concept in the rating assignment process. This, paired with an enhanced emphasis in penetrating minority communities with Navy recruiters, will increase minority representation in technical ratings.”
Lemme translate that Navy talk bullshit for ya; …….. “We now have a mostly bunch of dumbfuk free-shitters trying to get into the Navy, so we will modify the tests so that ANY dumbfuk free-shitter can pass the test. If necessary, we will give them a passing grade if they can spell their name correctly.”

Since you challenged it, I was going to check it out. Glad I read on and you saved me the trouble. Bracken has been warning about how bad the military is getting for a long time but it’s gotten much worse since 2008 and Trump did try to walk back some of it (I’m glad to give him Kudos when he deserves it) but Biden is quickly reversing those orders and the military blatantly ignored some of the other ones.

While outside during a lull in a docking evolution I was speaking to another sailor about seafood. My commanding officer decided to join the conversation by stating that he loved semen. He meant seafood, we didn’t correct him and just pretended not to hear what he said. The enlisted phone talker had her talk button depressed so the whole dry dock soon heard what he said.
That’s some funny shit right there. Where was this? I spent my time at Pearl and only experienced 1 dry dock episode.

That was a fact decades ago. Reading was a problem for many minorities. They couldn’t read well enough to comprehend the Rate Training Manuals and had a very hard time passing multiple choice test to get advanced to E-4 through E-6. Of course different ratings were more open to advancement than others, so there was that. That’s where the expression “you pick your rate, you pick your fate” came in.

Hard to believe that the Navy is 50% female. “Identify as” would certainly increase the numbers.
When affirmative action was still a thing, I lost out on a nuclear medicine MOS in the army when I was enlisting to an affirmative action candidate. My ASVAB score was a 97 and his was a 71. But because he was not my particular shade of skin color he got the job. And the rest is history. My recruiter looked like he was ready to cry when I said fuck you and gimme the forward observer MOS. Absolutely worthless in the civilian world, but I got to blow up so much shit with arty, helo and fixed wing aviation that I am pretty sure I probably wasted around $20mil in taxpayer dollars on ordnance lol.
My point being is that they lowered an entry standard to allow for muh diversities in STEM when the fuck barely made the ST score to get in while I cleared that minimum score by 35 points. Oh well. I am not mad and have no regrets about my rage decision when I was 17. I would not be typing here otherwise.

This proposed military is going to be very good at being an overwhelming SWAT team to be used against a helpless civilians. Fighting wars against real military opponents? Not so much. Think of ARVN that terrorized political opponents but folded when confronted by VC or NVA.

I believe there is a statistic that state’s 71 % of military age men do not qualify for service,due to various reasons. If this is true,and by looking at many of the young men I have seen. Perhaps that 29% that are of the warrior class. Should just no join. This is just one of the many things that just should be allowed to collapse upon it’s self. The idiocy of the people running this circus gets more absurd every day. The country is way to far gone to try and fix at this point. The sooner the whole thing collapses.The sooner the ones left standing can get to fixing things. Other than economic reasons.I can not see what the military offers anymore. When I was a kid, the local bar, apply named Good Times Tavern, where we struggling wage slaves gathered after work to trade jokes and lies, was also the home of the righteously besotted king of the cue . The SSN I was on, we couldn’t give two flying fucks about the person. All were nubs until they qualified and became useful. The ones that were light in the loafers were pretty much ignored, which makes life tough when you’re stuck in a sewer pipe 1000 feet under water and no one converses with you. They lasted one or two underways and then transferred to a skimmer.
