Reminds me of the time I was in a restaurant in Vegas–watched an elderly lady on oxygen finish her meal, remove the cannula and torch one up…….
I had an uncle who use to do that in the 70’s…crusty ole Band of Brothers WW2 Vet.
I was in my 20’s…and discovered if I had a hangover…ole Uncle Red’s oxygen tank was a miracle cure!!!

I used to pick up lab samples from the VA Hospital in Long Beach, CA. There would always be a group of about 8 older men outside smoking. At least half of them smoked their cigarettes through the permanent stoma at the base of their throats….no doubt there because of throat cancer. Some people never learn.
Yep-one of the reasons I never tried smoking was the films in grade school showing the woman smoking through a hole in her throat. I figured anything that drove you to that extreme was not worth even trying.
Guess who is paying for her health care……it sure isn’t her.
I’ve told this before but I’ll do it again.
About 10-12 months ago (after I decided the covid response was pure bullshit) I was in a convenience store checkout line. The guy ahead of me asked me where my mask was. He had 2 cartons of cigarettes in his hands and I said…”you should be more concerned with all that smoke you’re about to put through your lungs”. That was the end of the conversation.
She could pass for Keith Richards’ mum.
