Libertarianism is merely the other side of the coin, on which communism rests.
What the vast majority of people fail to understand, is that both Libertarianism AND Communism actually have good things about them. Sure, it’s nice to help your neighbor, but not to be FORCED to help them. Sure, it’s nice to have utter free will and monetary discretion. The problem arises when a large swath of the populace is maybe not as bright and can’t handle it and shit goes all chaos. Plus you still need to maintain some kind of infrastructure, bridges, roads, and hopefully a sound currency. Sigh. One can dream.
The problem arises when you allow dictators to run the show. Dictators always want one thing: POWER. To get and keep it, they will subvert any society to their own twisted way of thinking.
Socialist Dictators, Communist Dictators, Fascist Dictators, Democratic Dictators, and yeah, there can be Libertarian Dictators, although many would argue that is a impossible.
I suppose as a philosophy yes, it would be, but many a wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing has done whatever it took to seize the reins of power.
The second problem is when you allow a very large, burdensome, money-sucking federal-type entity to overrun the smaller state/provincial/territory government.
Locals know locals, and keeping power-hungry individuals out of positions of authority is much easer on a smaller, local scale.
I guess at the end of the day, no matter which way you slice it, there is no “perfect” system of governance, because we The People, are so imperfect.
And now evil people have taken advantage of technology to warp the minds of millions to their will.

Given the amount of taxes that are spent on education, perhaps we should be asking why there are people in our society who can’t figure out how to get a driver’s license or id.
Anything and everything government touches is or becomes a corrupt disaster which is exploited for dollars.
