Anyways Randy Delorey, the justice minister of nov scotia has made it known that he will be investigating whether any laws were broken with the leak of 911 tapes..
So I wrote to him again inquiring as to what were his plans. This time rather than him I got a canned response from his assistant. I found it instructive and hardly surprising.

Seeing as you are my MLA and represent me in Legislature I have the following question.
Since the release of 911 tapes related to Gabe Wortman massacre and Government Incompetence last year, it has become apparent that the RCMP lied when they stated at a news conference that they knew nothing of the identity of the killer until his girlfriend Lisa Banfield left the woods on Sunday.
Since filing a false police report is a crime. I have the following question.
Is there a criminal investigation underway right now to find out who was responsible for telling this lie?
I will await your response.

I appreciate the concern you’ve raised, with respect to the leaked 911 recordings from last year.
As reported last week, Government is evaluating the circumstances of the release and potential violations related to the leak, which may result in penalties, but the work is in the early stages so the results cannot be predicted.
That said, it seems you’re requesting criminal charges relating to not the leak of the recordings, but rather public statements the RCMP made. As you may be aware, there are a number of questions surrounding the incident last year and that’s why the federal and provincial governments initiated a public inquiry, the Mass Casualty Commission. This is an independent inquiry to evaluate evidence, answer questions, and make recommendations where appropriate. This work is ongoing and is being administered by the independent commissioners not the government.

Just to be clear you answered a question I did not ask.
So as it stands the Dept. of Justice is looking into whether laws were broken with the leak but is doing nothing about the crime of filing a false police report by the RCMP. Does that sound about right?
