I’m about halfway though it to. Heiser has given me a new and improved perspective on God, the Old Testament, Christianity and what God wants …it is fascinating to say the least.

I checked on my lat 40 submissions and only 3 had to do with religion. Your complaint that I “constantly ” write about it is a gross exaggeration.
When I do write about it it is because the subject deeply interests me … it always has. There is a big difference between writing a completely separate article about religion compared to interjecting religion in every conversation.
I write about it because the days in front of me are far far fewer than the days behind me. My time is coming and so, God, eternity, and my place in the scheme of things take on more importance with each passing day. Some of my loved ones have already passed to the Great Beyond. Where are they? Will I see them again? Perhaps I’m looking for hope, or reassurances, or even a stronger faith.

Other times, I have some thoughts and mean to circle back but never quite make it before the post is transitioned into the oblivion that is page 2. And, still other times, I just don’t have the time to engage in properly conducted sh*tfest because these can often require the commitment of repeatedly checking back over a period of days.
That all said, I have seen the above video before and should I have commented yesterday while this thread was still actively propagating, I likely would have gone one of either two directions:
1.) Love your God with all your heart, mind, and soul while loving your neighbor as yourself.
Or
2.) Contemplating if the preservatives in Twinkies would, in fact, contribute to physical immortality or an early death 🙂

Jesus said all of the law of the prophets hangs on these two things (Matthew 22:37-40): Love your God with all your heart, mind, and soul and love your neighbor as yourself.
But, would demonstrating that kind of faith(toward God) and grace (toward others) be sufficient in light of John 3:3 and John 14:6?
It would be interesting to see how people here would respond to that. If only, because I am a curious soul.

Part of my ministry was meeting with the homeless often troubled street people of downtown DC.

Then why did not you ask for money? One guy convinced me that he needed money for a bus ticket to get home to his mother in LA. I took him to the bus station and bought him his ticket and within ten minutes he was out front.

Try working in a soup kitchen for a month. Most of the same folks come for their meals. You quickly discover that they all are getting public assistance and food stamps. If you are feeding them, it allows some to trade their food stamps for other goods like drugs, lottery tickets or booze.
An Episcopal Church I worked with opened an inner city shelter for abused women. It was first class with dorms, counselors. Often after woman would take up residence, one would often see her kids running the halls un supervised. Then it was discovered that their men were climbing up the fire escapes for night visitations, then it was discovered that drugs were being delivered by the same route.
The vast majority of those I have encountered were looking to perpetuate their current sad realities not change it.
People write their own scripts. As one black woman social worker shared, ” No matter what you tell them. People gonna do what they gonna do. Experience is the only thing that will change behavior, but only those who are paying attention change and that ain’t many. “
