THE ANSWER IS TO OPT OUT

Guest Post by Austrian Peter

The answer is to opt out – homeschooling is easy these days with proper info on the net and setting your own curriculum puts your kids on the right path. I learned more from my philosopher/ engineer grandfather up to the age of 6 than I learned for the rest of my schooling up to aged 11.

He had a full set of Encyclopedia Britannica and I still remember my lessons from him. I could read and write at 4 years old, knew my 12 x table and could wire up 12 volt DC circuits with switches, resistors, capacitors and light bulbs. I am immensely grateful to my parents for their wisdom and foresight. “When it comes to child development, it’s been said that the most crucial milestones in a kid’s life occur by the age of 7. In fact, the great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man”. I am living proof.

Like everything in this crazy mixed up world, it is down to you to act on your own initiative, acquire the necessary skills and avoid all state interference as much as possible without fully returning to the 18th century, Amish-style. For finance, use credit cards judiciously. Run up a balance, transfer to a zero percent new card, run for the time span, repeat ad infinitum. I haven’t paid interest on cards for longer than I can remember. Think smart – find ways around the rules – act accordingly – Wall street is doing it, join them.

This is my way to live which I learned many moons ago – for what it is worth:

“Just for today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will be happy. Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my ‘luck’ as it comes, and fit myself to it.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count. I will do at least two things I don’t want to do —just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticise not one bit, not find fault with anything and not try to improve or regulate anybody except myself.

Just for today I will have a programme. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself, and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.

Just a few thoughts for today – it’s going to be great, great, GREAT!

Love it, most definitely deserving of its own post.

This is why I think the term homeschooling is basically a misnomer, but should be referred to as community-schooling. Community includes extended family members such as grandparents or other trusted adults which sometimes are not related by blood. I am a very adamant advocate of homeschooling, because I think this kind of education has the power to really be a driver to societal change, because it gets us back to the root of what living is all about: community, values, shared goals, spiritual living, being truthful to ourselves and respectful to others.

In all honesty, I am surprised that they have not pushed harder to forbid homeschooling altogether, especially since there has been a significant uptick in those families that are “opting out”. That lack of intrusion is the most baffling part to me. Why would they leave all those homeschoolers mostly undisturbed??? They are way too dangerous to the system. Strange.

I am sure they have a plan – they have a plan for everything else – give it time.

Macron banned it recently, using Muslim radicalization as an excuse. Because we all know loads of homeschooling muslims, right? I both work in schools (freelancer) and homeschool my kids. Every day I go into school and see the “pride” flags and trans/”climate change”/SJW propaganda, I smile to myself because my kids won’t be corrupted.

What amazes me is that such a small minority group get so much publicity and have their talons into authorities who should no better. These aberrants must be stamped on big-time. Glad Steve that at least you have it under control – we have to educate our children to condemn this assault on common standards if we are to have a chance of recovering our dignity and liberty.

Just a guess, but there seem to be many people who are homeschooled now who are just abandonded to television and netflix and games, most of whom will turn out like the school kids.

I haven’t looked at the popular homeschooling curricula so I won’t hazard any further guesses.

Kids will always be kids and go for that kind of stuff. But hopefully, the won’t grow up with the hivemind outlook that regular school gives you.

“Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man”. I am living proof.

That is exactly why the Democrats have been pushing to school kids before kindergarten.

From the article: “Just for today I will be happy. Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

I start every day off with that very thought. I wake up happy and full of good cheer.

But every day before I can even get down my first cup of coffee, invariably something pisses me off, and my plan to be happy flies right out the window. Every damn day. Today it was reading that Kamalatoe is going to be President when Biden can no longer even spell his first name, which I figure will be tomorrow. Yes, I already knew that of course, but it still pisses me off.

I will just have to be happy with being grumpy.

Yes, home schooling is “easy” in terms of the vast resources available today … just a mouse click away. Believe it or not, there was much material available even 30 years ago when we home-schooled our two sons.

But, what isn’t all that easy for most people will be; 1) staying dedicated and committed to the task (more than a few give up even before one year has passed), and 2) finding time, for it takes a serious chunk of time-commitment from the parent(s) to do it right.

I don’t see how home-schooling can be done effectively unless at least one parent is at home full time. We certainly couldn’t have done it if both of us were gallivanting around in the Commercial World.

Loved the wisdom you set forth in your post!

I don’t see why homeschooling would even interest parents where at least one can’t stay home. That doesn’t even make sense. The point is being committed to raising their own children. That is not possible without present parents.

True, Stucky, it does take time and commitment. But there again, most people who are into big corporate jobs and gallivanting around in the commercial world aren’t the types who either have kids or want to homeschool them. P.s. glad you got your money, guy!

Unfortunately, homeschooling is the very opposite of what many parents want…to get the kids
off their hands for the day.

Nailed it. Here in my country we actually had a vote whether to start school at 4 instead of 7. Of course it passed. Because most parents like gubmint babysitting their kids and also, they want their kids to have “good” jobs. I work at a private school that has many christian parents. The school teaches perversion and all the usual liberal stuff (but I repeat myself) and none of the so-called christian parents complain. Because they want their kids off their hands and they want that bit of paper at the end of school.

We’ll do that too when the time is right per Sun Tzu – for now, let it roll over of us – knowing when to fight is the key to victory – watch the Chinese.

What do you mean, Stucky – “will cease functioning”? It’s not functioning now! The government is corrupt beyond measure, what was a brilliant NHS is been decimated by privatisation, formerly vibrant high streets are waste lands, the public/private initiatives have demolished what was beautiful parks and countryside…need I go on? UK is on it’s way down – fast – so hopping off to the sun and pastures new is the only option.

AP- Most excellent collection of thoughts put to words. If only the majority could think on your level, but alas they let the media inject complete trash into their minds. If only we had a world of independent thinkers, if only.

Humanity has a streak of stupid a mile wide, I’m not sure they would ever opt out even unto their demise.
