If you want to understand what I’m saying I suggest you to read Regine Pernoud’s book “Those Terrible Middle Ages: Debunking the Myth”. The book is poorly translated from the French (most likely translated by a marxist) it still provides a wonderful new image of what were really those years. Just for information, Ms Pernoud was a history PhD who worked years at the French National Archives and she was chief archivist for the Middle Ages period.
I mentioned that book before and prolly will again and again. Sorry for the future repeat.

I had read “The Year 1000: What Life Was Like at the Turn of the First Millennium, An Englishman’s World” and life did not seem that bad. In many ways it seemed better than today.
