Kabul Has Fallen – But Don’t Blame Biden

Guest Post by Ron Paul

This weekend the US experienced another “Saigon moment,” this time in Afghanistan. After a 20 year war that drained trillions from Americans’ pockets, the capital of Afghanistan fell without a fight. The corrupt Potemkin regime that the US had been propping up for two decades and the Afghan military that we had spent billions training just melted away.

The rush is on now to find somebody to blame for the chaos in Afghanistan. Many of the “experts” doing the finger-pointing are the ones most to blame. Politicians and pundits who played cheerleader for this war for two decades are now rushing to blame President Biden for finally getting the US out. Where were they when succeeding presidents continued to add troops and expand the mission in Afghanistan?

The US war on Afghanistan was not lost yesterday in Kabul. It was lost the moment it shifted from a limited mission to apprehend those who planned the attack on 9/11 to an exercise in regime change and nation-building.

Immediately after the 9/11 attacks I proposed that we issue letters of marque and reprisal to bring those responsible to justice. But such a limited and targeted response to the attack was ridiculed at the time. How could the US war machine and all its allied profiteers make their billions if we didn’t put on a massive war?

So who is to blame for the scenes from Afghanistan this weekend? There is plenty to go around.

Congress has kicked the can down the road for 20 years, continuing to fund the Afghan war long after even they understood that there was no point to the US occupation. There were some efforts by some Members to end the war, but most, on a bipartisan basis, just went along to get along.

The generals and other high-ranking military officers lied to their commander-in-chief and to the American people for years about progress in Afghanistan. The same is true for the US intelligence agencies. Unless there is a major purge of those who lied and misled, we can count on these disasters to continue until the last US dollar goes up in smoke.

The military industrial complex spent 20 years on the gravy train with the Afghanistan war. They built missiles, they built tanks, they built aircraft and helicopters. They hired armies of lobbyists and think tank writers to continue the lie that was making them rich. They wrapped their graft up in the American flag, but they are the opposite of patriots.

The mainstream media has uncritically repeated the propaganda of the military and political leaders about Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and all the other pointless US interventions. Many of these outlets are owned by defense industry-connected companies. The corruption is deep.

American citizens must also share some blame. Until more Americans rise up and demand a pro-America, non-interventionist foreign policy they will continue to get fleeced by war profiteers.

Political control in Afghanistan has returned to the people who fought against those they viewed as occupiers and for what they viewed as their homeland. That is the real lesson, but don’t expect it to be understood in Washington. War is too profitable and political leaders are too cowardly to go against the tide. But the lesson is clear for anyone wishing to see it: the US global military empire is a grave threat to the United States and its future.

I’m sure the toads on fox news are croaking shit on Biden but he did what the vast number of Americans wanted-an end to the madness. The punks like Kilmead and Gorka will excoriate Biden ignoring the asshole who started it. If the greatest military conqueror in history, Alexander the Great couldn’t beat the Afghans what chance would a dunce like Bush have? He issued a message from his ‘library’ along with his old lady that was too schmaltzy for a box of Stella Doro cookies. It was utterly self-serving and completely devoid of any humility, exactly what you’d expect from the scumbag. And the complete collapse of the U.S.military was to be expected. It’s been a corrupt, bloated scam for decades now. Garbage in-garbage out.

Once I saw Limbaugh’s mug I knew it would be a waste of life to read. He was a gatekeeper for the MIC. He chose Bush and fascism over Ron Paul and liberty-a truly evil man.

That’s the pic for the site, not the article itself. But whatever … sounds like a dodge. Read it if you will and find out what you might really think of it. Still might not like it, but at least then, it will be from an informed position rather than an assumption.

You comment reveals a high level of ignorance, as you lump everything from that site into the “neocon box” when it actually has a variety of authors, all with different backgrounds and varied perspectives.

From your statement I’m guessing you wouldn’t recognize an informed opinion if it jumped up and bit you on the ass … HAhaHAhahahaha …..

I’m never really cared for Limbaugh’s rah, rah, rah for anything GOP. I’m always focused on what promotes the greatest prosperity and liberty for all Americans, above any man or any party.

Biden IS to blame for how this withdrawal was done. He said the buck stops here. Yes, indeed it does. In his speech he blamed former presidents, blamed Trump specifically, blamed the Afghan army, blamed the Afghan people, blamed Congress. He forgot to blame himself for all the times he voted for this war, or did he forget that. Nothing was his fault. In his mind, it never is. Nope he tried to play the pious card by saying he would not pass this war to another president, which is why he did what he did. More Biden lies.

Biden and all liberals, and the entire Democrat party always always always blame someone else for their failures. This time it cannot be covered up. Biden owns this disaster.

Biden said he could not move the May 1st date or he would have to go back to war. Bullshit. This is mid-August, 3 ½ months after that deadline. What happened in all those months after the missed deadlines? Did the all-out war start again? Nope.

Biden has been in office for 7 months. Since he claimed to be acutely aware of the May 1 deadline which came and went, did he not have time to make a better withdrawal plan and execution?

Did he not have time to get all the weapons out of the country? Did he not know who were the Afghans who helped the Americans and have time to secure their safety? Did he not have time to evacuate the embassy? Did he not have time to get the women and children , families to safety? Did he not know that those that stood against the Taliban in any role who were not given the chance to evacuate will now likely be tortured and killed? Was he unable to choose Bagram AFB which was totally defensible as an evacuation site rather than a wide-open commercial airport in the middle of an indefensible city?

Dr. Paul, Joe Biden and his administration own this withdrawal strategy 100%. Yes, many others were complicit in getting us into Afghanistan and keeping us there, including Biden, but as for this ongoing exit disaster, it’s all his. But being the liar and gutless pussy that he is, he will never admit it.

Impeach Biden.

Mousey, you and Edsel need to lay off the Neocon KoolAde.

Leaving the weapons is routine for us. Instead of leaving some unwashed Hillbillies in charge we now have Mountain Williams with sophisticated weapons to threaten the world peace with. One imaginary threat goes away so we replace it with a new one to keep the military factories rolling full tilt.
War is more than a rackett now. It’s our lifeblood.

Speaking of airports have you seen this:

Notice the crowds along the side. How many would you guess would kill an American if they could get their hands on one right now, and rightfully so?

Although I expected as much in Afghanistan with Biden’s inept fools at the helm, it was still quite the shock to actually see it play out across the television screen, as numerous reports detailed what is basically the fall of Kabul and Afghanistan; and even though the Biden regime initially tried to paint a good picture and suggested the Taliban threat to Kabul wasn’t imminent or quite as serious as some might have believed, we all knew they were talkin’ out their arse .

I had hoped for better for Afghanistan and the future of U.S.-Afghanistan relations, even though I am extremely distrustful of anything Islamic and the Muslim world in general. But my hope simply comes from my own background in International Relations and Cultural Geography and the idea that people can rise above themselves and old debilitating and harmful social norms to create a more perfect world, if only ….. but Islam, as anyone who has ever fully studied it, represents a completely new beast into any political equation, if simply through the fundamentalists’ strict adherence to the belief that Islam must reign supreme over all and the fight — Holy War – must continue until the House of Islam totally absorbs the House of War, or everything outside of Islam.

And so, any attempt at bringing Afghanistan into a complete U.S. sphere of influence was pretty much doomed from the start, for a litany of reasons.

As far as all the lives lost in this war, soldiers full well know and understand their obligations and duties when they sign up, just as myself and many others did in 1978, and most of them go In Country with eyes wide-open knowing that any day could be their last, depending on a bit of bad luck and a moment’s inattention to detail, zigging when one should have zagged, so to speak. And they go anyway for a litany of reasons that are as varied as the number of men and women who serve, but always with the hope that if their number is called, their death was for a good reason and not just some arbitrary political bullshit to make some fat bureaucrat look good to his constituency.

I’m no war hawk, but I do believe the Bible when it says “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.

Bottom line here … America must never go to war without a truly valid reason and our fighting men and women’s lives must never be squandered so cheaply and cast into the blades of war like so much chaff.

Conservative pundits are freaking out and taking full advantage of the opportunity to trash Biden. As if there isn’t enough ammunition domestically.

This is probably the only way that an Afghanistan departure could happen. Biden’s a joke. But this was the right move.
