McCarthy was controlled opposition, putting famous faces on show — actors and dissidents mainly — and accusing them of the psyop the whole “Commie Purge” was. The whole point of that exercise was to get the public to believe our government was actively rooting Them Commie Bastards™ out, saving us all.
