A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Super Concert in Australia
As I mentioned in an earlier post, Andre tailors his music to his crowd, and it is never so apparent as this first piece as is his ability to work a crowd into a memorable experience.
This piece is titled “Super Concert in Australia.” I’m guessing that LLPOH is in that crowd somewhere
Sportspalast Walzer
Next, Andre and his crew will play “Sportspalast Walzer, again live in Maastricht.
The lady whistling is Manoe Konings. A self-appointed “clown, she is truly a character. She plays clarinet, saxophone, bagpipes, guitar and mandolin. She is beloved in her home country. In 2001 she became very ill, was diagnosed with cancer, but fought it and beat it to come back to her chair in the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Lara’s Theme
We’ll follow that with another live piece from a Masstricht concert titled “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago.
Time To Say Goodbye
Next, Andre, his JSO and his top Soprano, Mirusia will play “Time To Say Goodbye.”
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
I’ll close this out with the lovely Mirusia singing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”
The crowd eats this one up.
Once again, thank you for listening to SMC, and have a great day.
Antonio Vivaldi – “Summer” Violin Concerto, Ospedale della Pietà, Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa
And to finish with some violin:
Mozart: Oboenkonzert C-Dur KV 314
hr-Sinfonieorchester ∙ François Leleux ∙ Andrés Orozco-Estrada
Allegro aperto
Adagio non troppo
Rondo. Allegretto
hr-Sinfonieorchester – Frankfurt Radio Symphony
François Leleux, Oboe
Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Dirigent
Alte Oper Frankfurt, 14. Oktober 2016
The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
RACHMANINOV: Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18
Thanks M.
It’s very nice and I would like to post it for you, but there’s no link to YouTube.
Thanks Steve.

Have you ever seen a conductor employing a tooth pick before? I hadn’t. This is very humble, and a bit hilarious at the same time.
On a side note, the “Super Concert in Australia” is unavailable in Europe:
YT displays “This video contains content from Universal Music GmbH, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.”
I will try with Opera browser in VPN mode some day…
As per usual…a mighty fine a pickin’ and a singin’. Thank You Gents!
Our pleasure Doc.
Thanks.
Glad that you enjoyed “Artist.”
Best gift for a Monday morning!!!
FABULOUS selections as usual. THANKS Sirs.
Is it Monday for you?
Thanks ursel.
OOPS. Another caffeine free geriatric brain fart.
Another week of great selections, gentlemen. Andre is always entertaining and I especially enjoyed Lara’s Theme with the beautiful waltzing to go along with the music. The Vivaldi piece was wonderful with the young, pretty mostly female orchestra. A real treat for the eyes and the ears.
Glad you enjoyed it today TN Patriot.
Thanks for watching you old Vol..and yes, Vivaldi always hits the spot.
nkit – I’m really a transplanted Okie, but 5 generations ago, the family was living in the Knoxville area, so do have some Volunteer genes in me.
To my shame, I haven’t commented on your outstanding musical selections in a while.
Dr. Zhivago is (for me) one of the greatest movies of all time. And Lara’s Theme IS the greatest movie score.
You guys made my day!!
Nice to have you back Stucky.
And thanks.
Stucky, I’m glad that we were able to make your day, and that you enjoyed “Lara’s Theme.” I don’t know if you saw it, but a few moons back I submitted this by the Film Symphony Orchestra: I think any Dr. Z. fan would appreciate.
I’m (finally) calling it a night … Good Night! … and the FSO selection is playing in the background …
This Sunday started out great, turned to shit (for me), and now ends on a high note …. thanks to you and your Amigos!
Blessings.
Here is what I posted on Tom Luongo’s Slack server about these. Thanks, guys!
This one is important to me. For us to win, we have to have the bigger hearts.
Theburningplatform.com has a posting of music on Sundays. The second and fifth of these selections today blew me away.
The “Superconcert in Australia” is stunning. The richness, the patriotism (love of the fatherland) doesn’t seem possible, a mere 13 years and a continent away from its recording. How could you sing songs in America that make us unite in order, beauty, and love if place? Would Australians even recognize it today?
The version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow” had my in tears. It us not a sad or wistful rendition. It is just extraordinarily beautiful. So glad to know that I can still feel.
Welcome Jeff C-C.
Glad you enjoyed it and shared with other non TBP folks.
Thanks for your comment Jeff C-C. I submitted the Andre Rieu pieces precisely because they touched my emotions as they did yours. I hope you will continue to watch SMC each Sunday.. Thank you so much for your feedback. See you next week.
Even though you post the Classics in the morning, they are the songs I listen to before going to sleep. Andre has the imp in his face, and has his audience in mind, but his performances are precise.
Vivaldi will always remind me of the speeding ticket I received while listening. Who says classical music is stuffy?
Thanks as always and see you next week.
