Love It. Thank You! Oh, I remember this song! I was in last year of High School and next stop for me was The Draft and Viet Nam. And then Nixon canceled the war and I was set free. But I do admit to having a Bad Attitude about The War, till then. I went to see Guthrie play this live and took a few friends along and we had a GOOD TIME! His humor appeals to My Bent Sense Of Humor. Got me in all sorts of trouble too!

Many decades ago, the local radio station would always play the full length song at the same time we were driving to have dinner with my wife’s parents on Thanksgiving. It made the drive quite enjoyable (for LA traffic that is).

When I was a college radio DJ, the bathroom was on the far side of the building. Working by yourself late at night you had to have a real long song for those times when you had to take a dump. You hoped the record didn’t skip.
Great story. My dad was hooked when it first came out, and we heard it over and over again when I was a kid. You end up singing along whether you want to or not. Puts a smile on your face.
“I had to pay $50 and pick up the garbage”, is my go to dad joke..
