It was in a ZH article. One doesn’t have to completely avoid Gaggle, just don’t monetize their search engine specifically. Yeah DDG uses Gaggle’s algo, but since it ain’t monetizing Gaggle, it’s a distinct negative for Alphabet.
I strongly disagree.
Trying to shape my perception by prioritizing/filtering search results, is much more negative for me, than not monetizing is for them.
Duckduckgo relies mostly on Bing according to the linked article. That could be right, as Startpage -which had become so tainted it’s results were an insult to a thinking-capable person- most likely relied on Goolag.
I’ve now set Yandex as the default search engine in my Firefox.
