Net Zero by 2050? Here’s What It Takes To Get It

Net Zero by 2050

Here is what a reasonably objective study from the Geological Survey of Finland concludes on just how much more electricity generation will be required to retire natural gas and coal…

The answer: a stink load!

But you need batteries to provide power when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. Here is an indication of just how much materials would be required to produce all these batteries:

We won’t hold these estimates against the author as there are a number of variables involved. But you get the basic point: there aren’t enough materials on the planet to achieve this dream. It’s a grand absurd delusion!

We wouldn’t worry about natural gas and coal being phased out just yet.

The Net Zero is Just Plain Virtue Signaling.

What is virtue signaling? A form of moral grandstanding in which a viewpoint or answer is calculated to “look good,” thereby making the object or speaker appear virtuous to others, rather than being chosen because it is strictly honest.

The 2050 net zero narrative is virtue signaling in its purest sense. Here is a small excerpt from Kopernik Global Investors’ recent report:

“It seems like virtually everyone from cities to countries to corporations is setting targets to reach “net-zero” emissions. Over 3,000 companies and countries representing 89% of global emissions have “committed” to reaching net-zero.

We put the word “committed” in quotes because that commitment can mean very different things to different people. Even the United Arab Emirates recently declared a net-zero pledge for the year 2050, but not before they increase oil and gas production by 20% first. Let me be green…but not yet.

It is easy to make a pledge for somebody else to fulfill 30 years from now. That is why virtually everyone is doing it. These are low barrier to entry virtues. If everyone can do it, it can’t be that hard. Unfortunately, the problem is much more difficult to solve, and we might say, it is near impossible.

We can see how someone looking at the headlines might assume that oil and gas are going away soon. Virtually any newspaper, magazine or news service has stories daily about climate change and the necessary energy transition. Anyone with a Bloomberg terminal is treated to an endless stream of articles proselytizing for the new energy economy. Most treat the subject as a fait accompli, that because it needs to happen, that it will happen.

The problem with this is that it leads to starting with a conclusion and then building models and forecasts on how that must happen, ignoring how unlikely or difficult it might be.”

Ah, such poetry!

Call us in 2050, and we’ll see what opinions are. Heck, by 2030, after inflation ripped folks’ lives apart, we’re willing to bet that the appetite for this nonsense will be gone. Farmers will have ripped these stupid cow burping (for saving us from climate change) muzzles off, and anyone who champions such idiocy will be treated with the contempt and scorn they’ve always deserved.

Until then… well, we’ve a bull market in inflation to deal with.

Editor’s Note: Disturbing economic, political, and social trends are already in motion and now accelerating at breathtaking speed. Most troubling of all, they cannot be stopped.

The risks that lie ahead are too big and dangerous to ignore. That’s why contrarian money manager Chris Macintosh just released the most critical report on these trends, What Happens Next. This free special report explains precisely what’s coming down the pike and what it means for your wealth and well-being. Click here to access it now.

You’re looking at this all wrong. TPTB aren’t expecting us dirt people to have energy. They expect us to go back to partying like it’s 1699. There is more than ample solar generation and storage to keep the cloud people lit up, heated and cooled almost indefinitely. As I’ve been telling my brother-in-law all week, if you start off with the supposition that TPTB hate you and want you dead, everything else makes a lot more sense.

More like the mid-1500’s when the Plague was rampant.

Small correction:

there aren’t enough materials on the planet to achieve this dream

I believe the term “Global Reserves” on the table above indicates the currently known reserves, not the (estimated) available amount in the Earth[‘s crust]. So future new discoveries -which are to be expected- can shift those numbers upward into a “theoretically doable” scenario.

(But the centuries required to mine them remains in the magnitude listed.)

I am not sure how much discovery is left, but the existing wells will keep refilling themselves indefinitely. Petroleum is a renewable resource. The open question is rate.

The carbon they want to eliminate is YOU.

You need to adjust all calculations based on requirements after the population reduction. Fewer people=less demand. Let us not forget, there seems to be an agenda to reduce the head count populating this rock.

OTOH the elite will need more energy to maintain their new lifestyle.

There’s never any talk about building new modern nuclear plants that would solve many of the problems with our energy supply. I’m ok with solar and wind on remote properties, with a backup.

Reminds of the pushback by the Kennedy clan when there was talk of putting windmills out in the water within sight of Hyannis Port.

Reports like this interject LOGIC into the “discussion” (in quotes because we all know that discussions require open, back and forth conversations which are not allowed). We all know that LOGIC is not something that plays ANY role in our society anymore.

Wake up call.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the climate or being green or caring about the environment, this is about stripping everyone of the right to own motor vehicles and travel. They are deliberately making all fuel powered vehicles prohibitively expensive to purchase, maintain and fuel.

Privately owned homes will be next on the list.

Everyone here ought to be aware of this by now.

Stop listening to anything that they say and start paying close attention to each thing that they do. This is a depopulation event. They will be using whatever means possible to eliminate any and every form of defense, communication, movement, shelter and food. You simply cannot miss it if you look at the larger picture and refrain from focusing on each particular. Everything- the masks, the jabs, the supply shortages, the devaluation of the dollar, the rising cost of everything, the eradication of history, the dumbing down of every form of education, the silencing of all criticism, the desensitizing of infanticide and perversion, the mass surveillance system and its twin brother the prison industrial complex- I could name a hundred others- every last one is just another tactic in a strategic campaign to consolidate absolute power, crush all dissent and control all resources. This does not require a traditional military style genocide, although it would not trouble them, but it does require turning the vast majority of humanity into a form of livestock that can be culled at their leisure.

It will take a hard shift to hydrogen fuel cell technology on every level. Don’t say it is not possible to have hydrogen fuel cells, they are in use in cars and in municiple power supplies around the world right now. Only a dim wit denies hydrogen power at this point.

Ya’ll have downed me and chided me to death in the past and no matter how many links or vids I put up the pea brains say, “IT’S NOT POSSIBLE”. Hydrogen power is the future.
