Tom Clancy’s quote about the government being good at collecting taxes made me remember how inflation aids rises in taxes, sort of a backdoor way of expanding government spending.
Here in NC the high gas tax changes with the price of a gallon, the higher the price the higher the tax. And the sales tax is always being added to, to build schools and what not. It is only a percentage of a cent they say. But think of the price of all the materials in a new house and the added tax, somebody has to pay for those pensions.
I only say this because my business as small as it is has to collect sales tax, under penalty of fine or jail.
And they will not even send me a Christmas card for being a tax collector.
