Empty huge mall around here is a Covid testing site in parking lot with more than 1 mile long car line. Obviously, that is the only business that is thriving.

Local hospital has >10% staff positions open. (cannot possibly be due to vaccine mandate, can it?)

Local museum closed starting next week due to “staffing shortages”. (cannot possibly be due to renewed indoor mask mandate, can it? Or maybe it is because everyone is testing positive for the sniffles?)

All very strange. /s

“…renewed indoor mask mandate…” They started that BS up again? I think we may live in the same awful state. A renewed mandate would explain why I have seen all the masskholes running around in the past few days. Since I stopped watching TV about five years ago, so I miss a lot of the imperial pronouncements and dictates.

In spite of the vaxxing that went on here ( 80-90%?), some cold/flu/rona illnesses are ripping through the population right now, and the fear is palpable. At the local Rx test kit shipments sell out within an hour of arrival if they even make it to the counter. And yes, for what its worth, people are testing positive all over the place. I’ve been exposed so many times I am beyond caring.

I ran into a Gym Bro today, who I had not seen since the Rona started. He was telling me about all the people he knew who had suddenly dropped dead in the past couple months. It was a long list, mostly males in their forties and fifties. He is rethinking his life now. I did not pry as to the causes, but you have to wonder, was it the Rona, the vaxx, or just bad luck?

It’s MA. Mask mandates are at the town level. It’s difficult to keep up where it’s in place and where not. I tend to go to the grocery stores in the not areas, just to keep my stress level low.

Vaccine passports also. In Boston, starting Jan 15, adults have to have at least 1 dose to enter indoor dining or entertainment (fitness clubs, museums, theaters). Feb 15: fully vaxxed. March 15: children 5 and older 1st dose. May 15: children fully vaxxed.

Are you asking a philosophical question?

Boston mayor Wu announced it 2 weeks ago to the background singing of “star spangled banner” of nearby protesters trying to be louder than her.

Currently in many smaller towns in Western MA, the local health boards and select committee are discussing vaccine mandates to enter businesses, government buildings. If approved, you cannot even enter town hall to vote in town elections.

The hits are getting closer.

They started that back a couple weeks ago here in California, then they extended it to mid Feb. Most are ignoring it in Riverside County; sheriff Bianco said he wouldn’t enforce the maskquerade.

That looks like a thriving metropolis compared to Portland. We also got the boarded up and vacant store, garbage on the streets, and crazy people yelling at the sky. But we also have tents, tents, and more tents and almost no one walking around downtown on weekends, workdays, or anytime.

So New Yorkers, you need to up your game to compete in the Shithole Olympics with the West Coast.

Let’s see, where do you start? First thing that comes to mind is the whole place looks like Fat Albert’s Neighborhood but there is at least one guy in NYC who understands why we use the term “SEA LEVEL”. Yankees will pay 9K a month for rent on retail space southerners would condemn…really? Small business is trashed but rest assured Starbucks and F’n Ace Hardware are in great shape.

There is no longer traffic as the restaurant are now in the street, directly in the street. To whom do they pay rent for that retail space? Everyone looks like they belong in a soup line and look lackluster. That PPP money gave a lot of businesses a reason to close up, order a new Bentley and go to Miami.

The “Black Power” memorial graffiti was a nice touch…not. Also, this jooish guy says he believes it’s ok for somebody to just take over your property and it becomes theirs, but he then claims not to be a commie…uh huh. That said, where are the taxis in NYC, Uber and Lyft have done away with them I guess. Who needs a taxi if you have your motorized bike and dress like a ghetto rat .

Ya’ll can keep that devolved rat hole as it is more than a case of a pig with lipstick on.

Reason #101 why I don’t venture above the Mason/Dixon line, nothing to see and what you will see can’t be unseen.

This reminds me of the movie “Blast From the Past” where the family comes out of the fallout shelter to a world 30 years in the future, that looks like today’s Manhattan.

Kept waiting for some rats to crawl out of the garbage piled in front of the eating places. Then figured it out that the garbage is to draw the rats which are caught, fried up and served inside. Its some kind of supply chain circle only the yankees could come up with.

I know some people like the atmosphere / “excitement” of a bustling city but I can’t think of or see even a single thing about that dirty, concrete, noisy eyesore that has anything to attract a healthy human being.

The graffitti, the garbage, the crazies, the phone zombies, etc etc… it looks like my idea of hell.

I noticed that the narrator seemed to make a point of not mentioning what day or date it was when he shot the clip. One closed store noted they would be closed from Jan 1 to 3. If this was shot on Jan 1, many small stores would be closed for the holiday. The fact that there are so many spaces for lease is the real story. None of it is good but it borders on being disingenuous to present this as midweek anytime when it is, instead, a holiday when many stores are closed. No one is allergic to money when they run a business but sometimes they enjoy a holiday, too.
Cheers

back in the 80’s the company that I worked for was going to provide the computer hardware for all the traffic control lights in the greater metro NYC area. I was in charge of the test software and had to spend waaaaaaay more time there than any man should.. I’ve always called it the armpit of the US. Honestly… I don’t see much difference since then. As an aside… the way that they determined whether an update was better or not was to compare whether there were more or less accidents between versions. In hindsight, I guess – maybe not an horrible metric. Nevertheless, at the time I couldn’t understand why every bum on the street wasn’t picking up his cardboard sleeping bag and heading North (or at least out of the city). Chilling thought hey HSF.

Well, the mention of Easter Eggs piques my interest, since I spend a few minutes each week finding the hidden clutch of eggs from my Americauna hens who lay the greenish-blue ones.

I’m going to sit in and look for some of your easter eggs and we will see if the ones I find are the same or different eggs from a different point of view.

Does anyone remember when we were allowed to discuss and debate things from a different point of view? Now that we all have to ascertain what viewpoint to which we are speaking before we do so, we have to mince our words and parse our meaning.

I will do it offline and then post a comment later today and hope it garners additional eyes and comments. I’ve been following urban demise for the past two years and this is right up my back alley here in the suburbs of the sticks.

City streets just looks so WRONG to me.

I think its gang related sign/tagging. Like if you know, you know, if you don’t, your in the wrong neighbourhood.

Having said that, I live in the country near a railway line, with lots of car transporters passing through. On occasion, when I get to watch a train go by, a some significant fraction of the car haulers (big, flat surfaces, ideal for the graffiti-inclined) have big pieces done on the that are rather amazing. I actually pondered what it would take to automatically photographing it when the train goes by. Coffee table book material for the so inclined.

So I have been there a lot, pre scam. There is little to no traffic, even though it’s Sunday, apparently. Most buildings are vacant or out of business. I live in NW Arkansas, this crap has been over here for a long time. We will not patronize a business that requires mask, let alone the Kill Shot. NYC is not coming back in this cycle. Generally, when Rome collapsed it went from well over 1 million residents to less than 11 thousand. It can happen and will. Just saying. Reality, like math, just can’t be jacked up by leftists.

I’ve never been to New York City.

On July 4, 1986, returning from a 3-week TDY in Saudi Arabia, our pilot requested 10,000 feet over the Statue of Liberty and was granted the request. Since we were “deadheading” home from the Azores (no radar) I parked my behind in Seat 5 (open skywatcher’s seat in the flight deck) and saw the coastline coming toward us as we dropped slowly from more than forty thousand feet to ten. I was a the lowest ranking member on board and had the best seat in the house.

comment image

The other dozen or more members of the mission crew were crowded in the doorway of the flight deck trying to see the New York skyline as we approached, but I was in Seat 5 and there I stayed until we were actually leaving the approved elevation to resume our straight shot to Oklahoma from a little island of Portugal. Seat 5, by regulation, must be occupied with a sky watcher during any and all flight deck manipulations. There actually was a time when military members paid attention to regulations.

There are so many things to see if one looks closely.

I watched the video on EweToob so as to pause and screenshot my own eastern eggers, as I decided to call them. After I watched it closely and gave it some real thought, rather than a passing one, I decided it was more than worth the effort to “image” via screenshot.

I’ve decided, for two reasons, to present my “eggers” here in screenshot form, in the order I took them, for observation, perusal and comment, if desired.

Meanwhile, I will write my own reasons for the shots offline and bring it forward later, hoping to induce some additional viewing and commentary on what really is a very important little walking tour.

The second reason? It is Sunday, one week after this walking tour, and my son is coming for brunch.

comment image

This is a screenshot of the postimage uploads I made while watching the video. I can tell you exactly why I chose each image. Is a weird trait my father seems to have passed to me.

By the way?

The image from space is the Phillippines, supposedly images taken from this very strange video I’d never seen until looking for the Statue of Liberty from ten thousand feet.

If you’ve never seen it, watch it.

First of all, I want to explain my methodology. I watched a few minutes of the introduction and realized one person’s eggs really are someone else’s omelette. I can’t see through your eyes nor through your experiences.

However, some of our experiences are common between us, I believe, and those experiences should help guide you through the reasons I chose this particular series of images from the video to offer something I consider eggworthy.

First of all, I stopped at the very beginning to get the best shot I could of the trash at that corner. To the people walking by, it just sort of blends in, doesn’t it?
