The picture is the yacht of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Man City owner and deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emitates. DiCaprio hired it to watch the World Cup in 2014. However he does have a fondness for yachts and is currently chartering Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli’s yacht, which is called Vava II, in St. Barts. Neither yachts are Eco -friendly which puts DiCaprio right up there with the rest of the hypocrites!!!
In the 1980’s we were on a fishing trip up off Vancouver and saw a beautiful ship coming in to dock. It was owned by Boeing and we were told was 299 feet long. An extra foot in length would have added substantially to the luxury tax the feds place on boats like that. Of course that would only apply to boats/ships registered anywhere in the US. Knowing Boeing, they probably got a tax abatement on whatever luxury tax they would have otherwise paid. The current luxury tax on boats/yachts is no longer based on length; the feds went to a flat percentage tax, as it was not as easy to avoid.

The boat produces a quarter metric ton of carbon dioxide per MILE… which about the equivalent of medium size car driving for 2 months.
If CO2 was a problem I would be concerned, but as it is not a problem, only the hypocrisy pisses me off.
