Undersea Volcano Eruption Triggers Massive Shockwave, Tsunami Strikes South Pacific Island

Via ZeroHedge

An undersea volcanic eruption occurred 40 miles off the coast of the South Pacific country of Tonga on Saturday.

Satellite imagery shows the eruption unleashed a massive shockwave as a plume of ash was flung 12.4 miles into the atmosphere.

US Storm Watch said the eruption was the “most violent” eruption ever captured on satellite footage.

Some have compared the eruption to the “Hiroshima” nuclear bomb explosion.

Shortly after the eruption, a tsunami warning was posted for Tonga. An advisory was issued for New Zealand’s North Island. CNN affiliate Radio New Zealand (RNZ) said a tsunami hit Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa, flooding coastal roads and properties.

RNZ said Tonga’s King Tupou VI was evacuated from the Royal Palace, and residents were told to flee to higher ground.

One Tongan resident told Yahoo News the eruption was “catastrophic,” and ash and rock rained down on the capital.

Twitter user Dr. Faka’iloatonga Taumoefolau posted a video showing waves coming ashore.

“Can literally hear the volcano eruption, sounds pretty violent,” he wrote. In another post, he said: “Raining ash and tiny pebbles, darkness blanketing the sky.”

Prof Shane Cronin, a volcanologist at the University of Auckland, told BCC this eruption is the biggest Tonga has seen in three decades.

“This is a pretty big event – it’s one of the more significant eruptions of the last decade at least.

“The most remarkable thing about it is how rapidly and violently it’s spread. This one was larger, a much wider lateral spread, much more ash was produced. I expect there to be many centimetres of ash that have been deposited on Tonga,’ Cronin said.

Maybe “mother nature” is getting tired of all the bull crap as well. Why not just toss her a couple of congress critters, attorney’s, news media types, CEO’s & pedo’s to take the edge off her anger.

One cubic inch of water, flashed into steam, occupies 1728 cubic inches of space.
This is why steam explosions are so violent and explains much, as this was an undersea eruption.

Tonga just enacted BTC as legal tender. Reminds me of Fukashima.

Probably more pollution from this eruption than all the cars in the US produce in a year, but the “greenies” will not say a word about it because you cannot tax nature.

Caused as always by climate change (that it will undoubtedly change the climate more than all cars on earth running for a decade will never be mentioned).

Depending on how the magma chamber expands, could easily be worse. If it caps off, but pressure builds and the sea pours in, the steam explosion could be massive. Will be an interesting next few months. One way or the other, Tonga just got more free land.

So then it would not be unexpected for there to be over 100,000 casualties, correct?

Oh, I see, a blast ring we can clearly see from space* only raised water levels by a few feet?

* Sure we can.

To be fair, its likely this volcano was just below the surface to begin with. Its 40 miles away from Tonga, so the blast itself would likely not have wiped out the country, which consists of 30 inhabited islands and a bunch of uninhabited ones. The main island has less than 100,000 total citizens, and it certainly appears as though the tsunami was bigger there than anywhere else though not high enough to swamp it or anything close. A large blast that ejected a lot of material, but the specifics of the blast don’t necessarily mean massive damage, even though a blast wave can be seen from satellite (though I am willing to defer to the possibility of software manipulation of images). If the bulk of the blast went upward, or skimmed the surface of the ocean (rather than expanding massively underwater), there would be minimal wave formation. I’m no physicist or expert on underwater explosions of volcanoes, but something blowing up mostly on the surface would not make the kind of waves that one happening say 2000 feet below would make. And waves in the atmosphere have more of an effect on pushing the atmosphere around than the water below.

I’ll need to watch the news later, so I can find out if this was caused by global warming, covid, or White Supremacy.

I’ll vote for Trump Voters as the cause. Or “vaccine” skeptics, or folks who won’t wear masks, or parents who actually care about what their kids are learning, or folks who question the legitimacy of the 2020 election……
