Report from the Freedom Frontline (apologies for the long post)

Yesterday, I did something that I have not done in many, many years. I walked among a crowd of my fellow citizens that likely numbered well over ten thousand. Now, there was a period in my life when such an activity was not an unusual occurrence but more of an annual ritual, one I performed in the typically inviting warm and sunny July 1st weather with friends and family. But its been a very long time since I felt any sense of national patriotism or pride, and spending Canada Day in the capital, for me, had been long committed to the dustbin of my personal history.

It was hard not to appreciate the striking similarities, and yet simultaneously the glaring differences, between those July 1st outings of yesteryear and my excursion last night into the heart of the Freedom Convoy ground zero . The similarities were immediately obvious. Everywhere were friendly smiling people, many carrying Canadian flags, Fleur-de-lis, and other patriotic displays, They were large and small, young and old, and of all creeds and colors, parents with kids and dogs, and a lot of young adults. They were surprisingly joyous, upbeat, friendly, kind, accommodating, and so many smiles all around. Perhaps its simply been to long without a reason to smile. During Canada Day festivities, it was not unusual to be walking along downtown streets and be called from a porch or balcony to join a house party and be offered food and drink. Yesterday was no different. During my stroll at different point and times complete strangers offered me everything from heart-shaped chocolates, butterscotch candies, polish sausage, coffee, tea, all of which I graciously declined. The atmosphere was surprisingly celebratory, carefree, and joyous. So many people smiling and fist bumping,strangers expressing love and gratitude to each other, dancing in the streets with kids bouncing in castles.

The glaring differences were really just twofold – the climate and the circumstance. A stiff wind out of the north and the high humidity made the ambient air temperature of nearly zero Fahrenheit feel more like minus fifteen F. The cold was bitter, biting, and permeating. Yet despite being literally the polar opposite of the typical July 1st weather, no one seemed fazed. The circumstances that gave birth to this event were of course very different from a July 1st celebration. Instead of a government dog and pony show of fireworks, free concerts and other small tokens tossed to the masses, here was a living, breathing organic movement not only without governments hand, but in direct opposition to it. Volunteers shoveled sidewalks, collected garbage, and even removed the barricades “protecting” the war memorial to give it proper hands-on care taking and ensure no more provocateurs could encroach and false-flag another “desecration by urination” event. The most important difference, of course really needs no explanation. Way back in the day, those participating in Canada Day activities were celebrating their freedom and prosperity. Last night’s participants instead were stepping up to the plate to have freedom and prosperity rightfully returned to them.

Police presence was another noticeable difference. For Canada Day crowds which often numbered in the hundreds of thousands, there were always lots of police assisting with emergencies, crowd and traffic control, and other requirements. Typically they conducted themselves with pride while enjoying the atmosphere among their fellow citizens, friendly and smiling. Yet last nights crowds of less than 1/10th that size generated the largest police presence that I have ever witnessed firsthand. Numerous roving bands of police from all sorts of jurisdictions – Durham Police, York Police, RCMP, Parliamentary Precinct Officers, and of course Ottawa Police. All walked together in gangs of 10-12, from one area to another, or just stood around. It seemed like they were “looking for a place to happen and making stops along the way”. Most just ended up forming their own little cliques along the perimeters of the various event areas, Despite the fact that each was fully masked, I could easily tell that there were zero smiles underneath. Doubtful any one of them wanted to be there, doubly so since their presence was completely unnecessary.

After close to three hours, I returned home and found myself doing another thing I have purposefully not done in many, many years. I actually watched the first 5 minutes of an MSM broadcast of the 11 o’clock news. To my disdain but not my surprise, the biased narrative was on full display. The Windsor crossing protest led the story, where the only words from a protester that did not fall upon the cutting room floor were “we are not going anywhere”, presented as an arrogant affront to the good citizens of the country and the rule of Law and Order. Mention of the growing presence in Ottawa lacked any video or context but emphasized “illegal activities” that “police were prepared and ready” for the “increasing danger and violence” (that never materialized). The next story was coverage was the situation in Paris, and again no protester interviews but only brief footage of the tear gas attacks and how Macron “acted quickly” to “control” the “dangerous” situation, with the story concluding and emphasizing that more and more police will be deployed to meet “any resistance” and that “they will be ready”. And that 5 minutes was it, as far as covering protests went. Clearly the media is full on board with ramping up the in intimidation and fear tactics of their government puppet-masters.

I have no idea where things will go from here, but its clear that the lines in the sand are entrenched and it will be TPTB, not the protesters, that are going to escalate. Military? Mass arrests? Anything other than the one and only action that could return workers to their jobs, people to their families and normalcy to the population. Dropping all Covid mandates actually makes sense, you see, so TPTB simply can’t have that, God forbid they might actually lose face and credibility (what little is left) so better to continue with the fear and intimidation campaign. Queue up the jackboots. The next days and weeks will be interesting.

Go Canada…I love it.

Communists don’t listen to complaints. They only know violence. It is time to show your manhood and fight and bloody battle. If you don’t they will pick you off one at a time. Dismantle the police state first then hang the politicians.
