There Is No Ukrainian Crisis

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

The task of the American media is not objective journalism. The task is to support the official narrative. The two main narratives at the present time are: vaccination is necessary to control Covid and Russia is about to invade Ukraine. This article is about the latter. Following Bloomberg, New York Times, CNN, now it is the Washington Post’s turn to bleat the false message. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/02/07/latest-ukraine-russia-crisis/

The official narrative on Ukraine is that a Russian invasion of Ukraine is imminent, “as soon as tomorrow,” to use the words of Biden’s national security advisor.

No such invasion will take place. The question is why has the Biden regime painted itself into a corner? When no invasion occurs, Washington is going to look very silly.

Possibly Washington is making invasion accusations in order to block Nord Stream 2. But this would hurt Europe, not Russia.

There is no crisis. If there actually was a crisis, Washington and NATO would be doing more to get ready than to make token troop deployments.

The Russian position is also difficult to understand. The Russians see a crisis because Washington did not agree to keep Ukraine out of NATO and not to expand NATO further. But this is just a face-saving refusal. In actual fact, Russia made it extremely clear that Russia would not permit NATO membership for Ukraine. Washington got the message and has no intention of putting Ukraine in NATO. Washington is saving face by claiming a right it will never dare use. Already Washington has moved Ukraine’s NATO membership to the distant future. In other words, it is merely a possibility in some distant future. Ukraine knows she is abandoned by the West and will make a deal with Russia.

The Kremlin’s insistance on a signed mutual security agreement makes no sense. If Washington’s word given to Gorbachev that NATO will not move one inch to the East is no good, neither would Washington’s signature be any good. Indeed, Russia thought she had resolved the Ukrainian situation years ago when she obtained signatures to the Minsk Agreement, but the signatures meant nothing, and the agreement was not implemented.

Look at it this way: If there really is a crisis and a likely Russian invasion of Ukraine, Washington can prevent it by agreeing to exclude Ukraine from NATO.

Or Russia can prevent the Ukrainians from causing a crisis by reincorporating the Donbass Russians back into Russia. Not even Ukrainians are foolish enough to attack Russian territory.

Russia has overwhelming military superiority in Europe. The Kremlin does not need any agreements and could not trust them if it had them. All the Kremlin needs to do is to state publicly that Russia would consider NATO membership for Ukraine a declaration of war and would take the necessary action to end the threat. Privately, the Kremlin needs to tell Poland and Romania that the American missile bases on their territory have to leave. Period. No discussion. It can be done as quietly and in as face-saving a manner as desired, but they do have to go.

Russia will have obtained her goal, and the Baltics and the rest will have understood the message.

I don’t think Poland, Romania or the Baltic states should get rid of their missiles. They should just aim them at Brussels. And one at Davos.

So, Doctor Roberts, a former Deputy Secretary of the United States Treasury, is now a “Domestic Terrorist”. Who knew?

Must read.
Hal Turner Radio Show website.
Blow by blow updates all day on quickly escalating events and fighting in Ukraine region.
He seems to have reasonable intelligence. I don’t know why no one else seems to be covering it.
He states FEMA employees were told at the end of today to go home and immediately prepare for potential really bad things to happen.
Washington may get the war with Russia it’s been begging for after all.

It just seems that to many are to dismissive of the real potential for worldwide disaster to initiate here.
To many bumbling idiots in Washington to take this to lightly.

Yes. Russia will not invade. Ukraine will implode on its own when the West stops throwing money at it, if not before.

And yes, USA agreements are not worth the paper to write them down, and Russia knows it.

USA has only the usual one carrier strike group in the MED so they are not expecting a war.

So what does this theatre achieve?

I doubt I’ve got it all but:

Russia gets to display the impotence of NATO

Biden gets a distraction from COVID mandates, empty shelves and inflation.

Putin gets a boost to his popularity.

Both (Biden’s masters own the western energy corps) get higher energy profits and justify higher “defense” expenditures.

The irony of it all is that the American media was created as the second to the last defense against government tyranny. The goal was to try and keep the government honest. Fast forward a couple hundred years, and today the media has become an arm of the government and a messenger for the jackals in D.C. Looking to the media to report the truth about what goes on in Ukraine is as futile as when we expected the media to report the truth prior to the invasion of Iraq. Not a single TV or radio station – or newspaper questioned the position of George W. Bush. All vigorously beat the drums of war. Ukraine will be no different. American MSM has become the Pravda of the 60’s.

It’s a bit weird to watch some American films from the late 70s and 80s when they feature a crusading, whistle blowing journalist as a primary character.

At the time, such a character didn’t seem absurd, but the idea of an American journalist fighting to expose corruption in high places now seems farcical to a broad swathe of the public. I suppose some of the stupider Lefties believe it, and quite a few of the J-school graduates. But I repeat myself.

The Russians just have to avoid war and wait for the collapse in the USA to unfold. The USA is an irrational actor on the world stage, so Russia is turning a lot of cheeks and letting ZOG burn itself out rather than risk MADD.

The Ukraine “crisis” cheat sheet.

It’s all political theatre. With a step by step plan.

No.1 Accuse Putin of some thing he is never going to do.

Let’s call it a made up crisis.

No. 2 Tell the world if this made up crisis happens the US will respond harshly.

No3 Deploy some token troops and arms etc to appear serious.

No4 Tell the world exactly when the made up crisis will happen.

No5 When the made up crisis dose not happen tell the world it was because the US out played and beat the Russians.

No6 Declare complete and absolute victory and retire to bask in your own glory.

Are you not entertained?

“All the Kremlin needs to do is to state publicly that Russia would consider NATO membership for Ukraine a declaration of war”

Uh, they more or less did that, in a face-saving manner for the opposite side.
