QOTD – WILL CHILDREN BORN TODAY HAVE BETTER LIVES THAN THEIR PARENTS?

Will children born today have better lives than their parents? Or will their lives be worse?

What Is the American Dream in 2015? | Vanity Fair

Growing up in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s it was always assumed children would have better, easier and more prosperous lives than their parents. Technology, education and medical advancements would help in improving our way of life.

Is that still the current line of thinking? Why or Why not? Are our lives better than our parent’s lives?

With the transhumanist agenda that is part of Shwab’s agenda. Will they even be Human? Will they have a divine spark of the creator, Soul, as all real humans have? Will they have any say whatsoever in the course of their lives? Will they live move and have their being in God? I could go on.
These are my concerns.

Whence cometh the notion of the ‘divine spark’?

AK John
AK John
  Red River D
February 20, 2022 7:55 pm

A memory from way back that always resonated with me. But here is the Google.

The idea of a divine spark, most common in Gnostic and mystical religions, is that every human being possesses either a connection with God or a “part” of God. The goal of life, then, is to allow the divine spark to influence us toward love, peace, and harmony. Upon death, the divine spark returns to God. Is the idea of a divine spark biblical?

No, the idea of a divine spark, as held by Gnosticism and mysticism, is not biblical. But there are some biblical truths that are somewhat similar to the idea of a divine spark. Genesis 1:26 teaches that every human being possesses the image of God. Ecclesiastes 3:11 declares that God has “set eternity in the hearts of men.” In Luke 17:21, Jesus proclaims, “The kingdom of God is within you.” The Bible teaches that every human being possesses an immaterial soul-spirit, and it is this part of us that connects with God (Hebrews 4:12).

Breath, wind, spirit…

Genesis 2:7

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul…

John 20:22

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost…

Careful about mingling those doctrines, brother!!!

One we have from the Word of God. The other?

All of us have the Divine Spark.
Most ignore it.
Our children are doomed unless we convey to them the preciousness of their Divine Spark.
Existence in bondage is not our natural state or we would relish it.
We HATE bondage. Our true nature is to be free.

Ammo up and ensure your true nature. And be prepared to kill the creatures who
will happily enslave you for their aims. No mercy for anyone who would gleefully deny you what God gave you solemnly.

“Our children” aren’t some monolithic group.
Our children are unique individual images God.
So they will make of their lives as they will as individuals.
I think their lives won’t be as full of material shit as most
have become enamored of, but perhaps some hard times
will anneal them as the Great Depression did for my
grandparents and turn them into serious folks.

Geez, even a 40+ manager at the hardware store I worked after “retirement” has a wife that did her hair in a lime green , light purple thing. And she is a TEACHER in a local school district. I see the same thing up here in Alaska. At the end of this month, kids will finally have the choice of masking or not. I have Jury duty next month. Depends. Until now, parents have tried to give their children more than they had. As a “boomer” our parents were children during the depression and young adults during world war. They tried to teach us to earn our own way. We cut lawns, carried horse manure to people’s gardens, went to college and worked through the inflation of the 70’s. Some of us were invited to defend America from North Vietnam between school and college. Some of us gave our children more than we should have. In turn some of them have given their children more than they should have and also along the way invented awards for just being there (participation trophies, last place soccer teams in playoffs.)

A lot of our kids (Gen X) are liberal Democrats and disagree with their conservative parents. They are raising a generation who has little hope of being better off. They subscribe to fake science, listen and believe fake news, and believe the government is responsible for successful capitalism. Their kids get socialist lies from union teachers at school and mostly agreement with those lies at home. They vote Democrat, and their kids probably will too, even though they’ll see their world getting poorer and more dangerous every day. No. They won’t have better lives. On balance, I think as a generation we boomers probably were the peak of improving “lot in life.”

Gen X is the first generation where it became acceptable to “move back home” in order to have a better lifestyle without working to pay for it. Their kids–again as a generation–will be more inclined to just never move out on their own. I see Gen X’ers building out their high school kids’ spaces to be almost separate spaces so they never have to leave. They’re the reason new homes have three and four-car garages. They might have it easy, but the kids born today are going to have hard and oppressed lives.

    What do you think…to negative?

No way our grandchildren’s lives will be as good as ours when we were kids. The ability to grow, to fail, to grow even stronger from our failures, the freedom to explore, to imagine so much more than we had already seen. No, kids born today will not have better lives. They won’t even understand what better could be.

    i forget
    February 20, 2022 2:11 pm

I remember the 60’s. I understand that period was an extension of the 50’s, which were postwar ~boomboomboom~ “boom” years.

And I remember the 70’s. If the import of my memory isn’t also your memory, explanatory fillings will not feed you…will not satiate…will not nourish.

Time’s a funny thing. And timing gets away ~ is given a pass ~ with playing bad jokes.

In the gambling QOTD some folks related how quick easy early out of the gate wins were the worst thing that ever happened to them. Too true too often. (That might be something like being born with silver spoons, or too beautiful, or too anything that makes life too easy for you…crutches, atrophies, deformities…& the poetry of mitigating “justice” in which every gain is offset.)

Well, hard is average. Regression to mean is typical. And the 50’s-60’s were picking winners your first time at the track, a winning lotto ticket funded with oceans of wasted blood. Blood leverage is the absolute worst of the sucker bets that pay out “first one’s free, kid” style.

Quick & Easy is a set up. Being born into quick & easy makes it, that, hard to see. “Water? What the hell is water” (David Foster Wallace’s Kenyon College commencement speech. Anybody read him? I haven’t got round to it yet.) That’s the whole story of the princely born Buddha. (And the moral of that story is he alone split the princely scene. Everybody else stayed put. Stuck put – it really is never a choice.)

AND part of how Q&E sets up is guilty consciences & subconsciences. The biology, the organism, *knows* it ain’t supposed to be easy. CogDis gets dealt with by sleeving Aces & palming padding cards. A crooked game.

Lotto winners blowing themselves up is cliché. So are sole survivors (war, tragedies). Bleeding hearts are often trying to buy salvation salve, without even knowing it, because their reflections in silver platters serve up a main course of unease, guilt larded decadence. They didn’t earn it. And good luck is often the worst luck. Cuz time, in a bottle, can be, all too often is, pure moonshine. Cue Roger Miller.

So “kids born now” is a question unconscious of the answer already long in place: kids born then – me, you – did not have better lives than our parents. Kids born then had a “different” bottle of moonshine than their parents, but moonshine’s effects don’t vary nearly so much as the labels on the bottles do. Same goes for kids born now.

Only if we stop illegal immigration and kick up a fuss in DC. Even then it’s questionable since everyone’s kids are different.

Another Doug. I’m making a specific example here. This is how brainwashing happens. This is how insidious it is. You say only if we stop illegal immigration. You have already been beaten. With the stroke of a pen, it all becomes legal. Then what? Think about things. How about this. We stop immigration. We don’t need any more third worlders in our country. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong

The question today is “What I want to be IF I grow up.”

Young One inadvertently used that on my last week when he said, “If I grow up, I want to…” I was surprised, because he’s a bit young to be sarcastic and maudlin and dark like me. I’m sure it was a slip of the tongue, but it was disturbing to hear.
His life will probably be much harder than mine was, but he will be set up as well as he can be to succeed while I’m still here to say something about it.

I don’t make predictions. A lot depends on what we do today to change things for the better. It also depends on what God has planned. Maybe we really are in the end times or maybe God expects us to stand up against evil until the real end times comes. Either way, He expects us to stand against evil.

Kids now don’t realize how good we had it as kids. You don’t know what you are missing if you never experienced it in the first place.

There’s already mounting evidence — lots of it, actually — about children born of mothers who took the jab during pregnancy. When those mothers nurse those children, some of the children are getting sick — the jab is in the mother’s milk. Women up until 15 weeks pregnancy lost their unborn children due to the jab 91% of the time …

Start with those 2 notions … plus the way many millennials and others seem to embrace tyranny/marxism/communism … and my guess is that the future will be grim unless and until there is another major war for independence here in the United States and in every other 1st World country.

If we don not stop the great replacement taking place for the past 20+ years … we’re doomed; if we do not enforce our borders — and, thereby, our National Sovereignty … we’re doomed; if we do not pledge ourselves and our lives to God and Family and Country … we are doomed; if we do not deport all of the illegal aliens — and, in fact, all non-US Citizens — then we are fueling our replacement … and we’re doomed.

Folks don’t seem to realize how slender the threads of Individual Freedom and Liberty are for US at this moment in time — that our existence as a Sovereign Nation and as a Free People with our own Language and History and Culture is in the process of being ripped away from US by forces internal and external.

Our children and grandchildren will inherit whatever world we leave them … and, at the current rate of our destruction, that will not be much.

1984 was a warning … not a game plan — except for those who would enslave all of US … their ‘great reset’ writ large.

I agree completely. The bad news is we won’t do a thing to stop or change our direction.

I wish I could say yes, because I would like my children to live in a better world. Unfortunately I do not believe that will be the case. The world is grossly over populated, and the wealthy are implementing population reduction on a number of different fronts. IMO the future will be one of pandemics, war, tyranny, and famine.

Please elaborate too on the fake “Pro Life “, stance. For the “Pro Life” crowd that participates in the annual “marches” , donate some money , then returns to their easy chairs for a cold beer and an Aggie football game, or shopping with the girls , feeling all “good” about themselves, try standing in front of an abortion clinic praying for those about to be murdered , innocents within the womb. Have people flip you off as they drive by, walk up to you and spit on you as you try to read the Gospel of Jesus Christ , then go talk your “good feeling” Pro Life stuff.

“Second, remember that you are on a site full of ideologues and Boomers in their 60s and 70s. Most are close to the end of their life, and naturally view their younger years fondly – rightly so – but look at the future as offering less, which it does, for them. They are largely men who view the world through a very demanding lense of rarified political philosophies that rarely completely intersect with real life, but are ideals to strive for but never reach. Accept life as it is, and more forward from there.”

I guess That description makes me an outlier.
I don’t consider material well being as being better off and never have. I see it as a hindrance to a good life and I don’t see reasons for optimism concerning our youths spiritual well being.
If we are NOT (Upper case not for the majority reading impaired TBPr’s) Then I’m even less optimistic about the future for kids born today. Born 20-30 years from now, Yes.
If we aren’t at the beginning of the end then todays humans have a really really bleak 30 year future on the horizon and the light at the end of the tunnel really is a train.

Demographics is a club & I ain’t in it. ~ Groucho marks the spots he happens to be inhabiting…mutually exclusively inhabiting ~ Hunter S (is for Solo) Thompson

Perfect (a mistranslation of “best”… maybe the scribbler hadn’t had his morning cup, yet…I just brewed my two for the day, but Big V drank 40-50 cups a day – musta’ been a heluva fast excretor, along with being a Speedy Gonzo-lez, in general) doesn’t have enemies.

    comment image

Good (“enough” is silent) has perfected “besting” via coal•esce.

That’s where/when diamonds in the rough, at least potentially (not optimism my part, just recognition that massification doesn’t dig diamond mines, & so that data set is in effect immured in a DeBeers vault…) are converted into coal (…the mines mass-minds must dig) that’s burned for a little heat, a little light, & a lot of pollution.

What “perfect” does have is lots & lots of 2nd hand third grade shortcutters ~ prefects ~ trying to impose it ~ Perfectopia ~ here on earth, here in human life…the epitome of oxymoron…those types love the smell of oxymoron in the morning – smells like victory to ‘em.

McDonalds grill scrapers got all three Michelin stars in their eyes, plus a couple more, cuz fraud curve-graded gpa’s beyond 4 are as good enemies of perfect to be as can be – mostly because there’s so damn many of them (they reproduce like rodents).

I’ve been close to the end of my life since I’ve been alive. You have been too. I’m still here but many I knew are not. The quick & the dead got “just that quick” in common. Besides, it’s all just a blink of the eye anyway. But heaven apparently forbids heaven-gazers from accepting that part of life as it is. (“Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.”)

But like water to pup fish, that’s hard to see from inside mentally constructed & projected “demographics,” hard to read on labeling-laws moonshine bottle labels. Soaking inebriation usually “bests” comprehension.

And there’s all kinds of besot other than tip of the ice berg words…or tip of the flagellum kamikaze hits.

I accepted, by age 13, life as it is & knew the moves from there did not include marriage, or children.

Somebody, or something, maybe a committee of shrinks scribbling out DSM maladies, has surely slapped a demographic label on me. And I’m just lost for not knowing what it says.

“…refuse to consider any ’collectivized’ solutions, you cannot collectively consider the childhood of all future children.” Nor do collectivized descriptions, like “demographics” fit anywhere but the “good” that is not even close to perfect.

Many years later, happenstance of the wide read, perspectives that had nothing to do with me being me at 13, or subsequently, started scrolling by, having to do with noticing that many men, like Voltaire, never fathered children, & often never married, either. Mencken goes into some rapier detail on this subject, for example.

Too big to fail sumbitch quote: That which is not worth doing, is not worth doing well. ~ Warren Buffett

Picture Nazi Prefect Schwab, in conversation with the Longshanks character from Braveheart: Grill-scraper Schwab, with his engineering/econ degrees, says “If we can’t get them out…” & Fast Eddie, with his crown, finishes the “thought,” “…we’ll breed them out.”

Which is to say, obviously, “we’ll breed the right them in.”

Dr. Phil: How’s that animal husbandry workin’ for ya’? Bonus Q: How’s that definition of insanity go again?

But of course, the biological imperatives are a certain categorically imperative slice of the insanity spectrum. Cure don’t apply.

So I’m traipsing thru the woods when I come upon a wild, or reverted to wild, orchard. Apple trees, heavy-laden with fruit, apples littering the ground all around. All the rest of nature is helping itself to the easy pickings bounty.

But there’s this guy sitting there, manning his apple stand. He’s got apples for sale. Unlike the near infinite apple surround, free but for the picking effort, appleman’s apples all have little labels stuck to them. “Gucci” reads the label. And there’s a line o’ queue-balls waitin’ to buy themselves some designer apples that appleman has picked, polished, & labeled. So much value addedness, so little time(or)value/of/money.

There’s way more people around than apples. And all of them are flesh & blood relations, same as all the apples are flesh & juice relations.

Not only is there no good reason for me to produce people, just like apples, you never know whose who until the squeeze anyway. Even people from the same tree as you is unknowns until the press proves…& it ain’t once & done either. Squeeze after squeeze after squeeze is what perfects the enemy of the “good” gawd will ya’ just look at all those apples raining down from the Sky-lar, Evie~for~Vendetta?

Today’s QOTD. My first was a ’57 Bel Air. 4-door post. She was heavy, snare drum brakes all the way around, hard to stop, & I wrecked her – mostly for psychological-emotional-personality reasons (the car was a bribe, a forced error) – when I was 16.

Took her to a body shop. Guy says he doesn’t work on cars like her because he knows how people want the work to be on cars like that. “Perfect” he said. OK asshole, I thought. Keep toweling in the bondo for the big bucks. Plastic surgery was huge in auto body work long before it was plumping lips & tits out in gen pop.

Found some grill parts for her. On the phone seller says they are in “perfect” condition. I drove from N. Charleston to Columbia for those parts. You know the punchline: not good at all was the enemy of the good, let alone the perfect. (But the fried brain rednecks, 3 of ‘em, woulda’ been happy to make a fight of it if I didn’t like it enough to add some injuries to insult…& I didn’t buy that, either.)

Next one was a ’69 SS Camaro convertible. A basket, but it had an L88 ‘427 in it. I built a shed to rebuild it in. Wasn’t subframe-off but pretty much ground up. And she was smack dab in the neighborhood of perfect by the time I finished.

But retro perspective on all that youthful energie$ spent that way, even despite lessons learned, skills developed, art created still veers back round to that sumbitch quote above.

That ’57 sent me down a box canyon.

Turned out ~ surprise, surprise ~ that takin’ bribes got a downside that this plumber could not see the bottom of when he began plumbing it. And that is the crowning lesson.

Maybe I coulda learned it cheaper some other way, maybe not. And/so/but learning isn’t a regret. That includes learning that learning costs quite a bit more than students & would-be’s are led to believe – & to proselytize.

The perfect ain’t enemy the goods…it’s all that slippery slope that crumples-begets hoods in the hoods.

Perfect Storms is what the sea of Briberee does. (As mentioned yesterday, an eye of that storm passed over hereabouts back in the 50’s-60’s. And people still pine for that ol’ Cyclops.)

Relatedly, Quick sandy Sea o’ Galilee’s the lowest freshwater lake, or sump, in the world. Only one lower is the saltwater Dead Sea.

depends on how we determine better or worse, what criteria we apply. certainly in the way we usually think of it, the answer is defintely no. we were likely (gen-x particularly) are the last generation to grow up without a pervasive electronic monster in our lives. i’d already say that those born after that got a shittier deal and it’s been downhill for 4 or 5 decades now, give or take.
however, our kids born in the present era might, just might, be born just as the great awakening of mankind really gets underway. materially we will be far poorer than the past half-dozen generations, where we will be living in the blasted rubble of a collapsing/collapsed machine civilization, a world polluted, abused, poisoned, and struggling to recover from an all-out war of extermination. If we’re still raising kids in a few years, though, it will be because we won and survived that war of extermination. we will never again see the material wealth that we got to see in our lifetimes. however the next generations might end up in a spiritual and civilizational flowering. for that we need to make it through the next few years.. tribulation indeed. if this isnt it then it’s not far off.
those born right in the heat of the fire will have a bad time of it. something about it will be an evil time for those with child or those with infants, etc etc. it will be. it is already but i think theres worse to come before the thing finally collapses.
