I will say while I find being a pure blood extremely satisfying and being right thru research that the non vaccine vaccine was a bad idea would have been happy to be wrong.

Why do physicians want to wear their white jackets over their suits many times when being questioned? Although I agree w/ these two, it’s a sign of insecurity, IMO.
It is a symbol of authority in a culture that depends upon reliable badges of authority. Authority is derived from special knowledge/skills/ability and duty and responsibility. Anything else is just power, but the two are conflated ubiquitously.
With such specialization as higher technology requires, it was quite important the institutions supporting areas of authority maintained at least professional integrity, if not moral integrity (much more stable). But even that was too much to maintain in the pursuit of “enlightenment”.
