Is Putin Really Losing?

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Forgive me if I have studied ancient history too much in detail. This reminds me of when Socrates asked the then most illustrious military commander: Would you ever retreat? He replies no, that was cowardly. Then he gave as an example a pretend defeat causing the case of the opponent which only led to a trap. But it also reminds me of Alexander the Great.

Things are not always what they appear and RELIABLE sources confirm that the claims that Putin is on the ropes are coming from the State Department and the Pentagon disagrees for this appears to be propaganda to try to support a NATO invasion.

The most celebrated battle during the Punic War was when Hannibal defeated a Roman army twice his size. It was the Battle of Cannae where 16 Roman legions of about 100,00o confronted Hannibal of about 50,000. Hannibal used a very clever move to understand how the Romans fought wars. When the Roman legions began their attack, Hannibal allowed the center of his initially crescent-shaped formation to yield pretending the Romans would easily win. The advancing Romans were then pinched by the Carthaginian troops stationed on the flanks. The Romans were slowed and then finally stalled unable to break through Hannibal’s formation. The vastly larger Roman army was encircled and the carnage began. According to the historian Polybius, of the 80,000 Roman soldiers, the Carthaginians killed 70,000.

The word “carnage” refers to the slaughtering of a great number of people, the root of it in Medieval Latin carnaticum “flesh,” from Latin carnaticum “slaughter of animals,” from carnem (nominative caro) “flesh,” originally “a piece of flesh.” However, there are some who believe that this originated after the Battle of Cannae on August 2nd, 216BC.

Putin has said that he regards Ukrainians as the same stock as Russians, distinct from other Eastern Europeans. He initially asked the Ukrainian army to stay in their barracks and not to fight. Alexander the Great would conquer a region, but not destroy everything as Americans do. Instead, he sought to assimilate the armies of conquered states those building his forces with every victory. Putin may not be trying to wipe out the Ukrainian army, but just maybe holding out hope that they will see that they have been merely a tool of the West and then join forces with Russia after executing Zelensky as was the case with Mussolini by Italian opponents.

The Ukrainians have adopted a tactic of trying to assassinate all the Russian generals. Some suspect that these are American snipers. Nevertheless, this is a very novel tactic but this may not be that successful for it assumes a general in the field is calling all the shots rather than following orders from central command. Ukrainian snipers just killed the deputy commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Earlier, the Ukrainians had killed five generals and a number of other high-ranking officers by these types of tactics. They are not defeating them in battle but trying to create that image.

The Pentagon is objective to the propaganda coming from the State Department. My concern has been that if Ukrainian troops are pushed toward a loss, someone in Zelensky’s camp will claim a chemical attack by the Russians to then give the excuse for NATO to join. That is when nuclear tactical weapons may begin to fly. The logical response will then be to just nuke Kyiv before it is embraced by NATO. This is why I believe the Pentagon arguing against the Neocons who now control the State Department.

Putin could crush Ukraine in a little over 10 seconds. So what is really going on. It is a manufactured crisis to help the elites consolidate their power under the auspices of a one world government led, for the moment, by the United Nations. It is chilling to see how far they have come with this scheme but it has been in the works for decades if not generations. Anyone who thinks that Russia is not in on it is crazy. Putin has made many dumb moves and he is a very smart man. He is having Russia play its scripted role. The phantom threat of nuclear war is meant to scare the sheeple to death making them more compliant and willing to surrender their freedom.

We don’t really know what is going on because of the censorship. Looking at the map I see the original goals of taking the ethnic Russian land and the shoreline land bridges already accomplished. Perhaps the other moves were not good further west but there isn’t enough real info to decide.
Those fools saying Putin is hurting or failing are premature. If Putin deploys a WW2 style bombardment with 500 130mm cannon pounding a place for two or three hours and they can say the same thing then they may be on to something. There seems to be an obsession over high tech weaponry among the reporter class. You can dump a bomber load of 500 pound iron bombs for less than the cost of a cruise missile. Same with a couple of thousand rounds of 130 mm cannon shells or hundreds or thousands of BM-21 rockets. They seem to think it is significant they are not wasting million Dollar a pop missiles when a couple of thousand bucks worth of cannon shells do more damage and scare the shit out of the enemy much more.

If they were fighting others, say the Poles, those in the cauldrons would just be hunks of meat by now. The grads would have wiped them out, along with other big guns and the thermobarics. Destruction, Russian style.

Think of the Russian soldiers at Stalingrad. Pretty tough dudes. It is in their blood.

“Is Putin really losing?”

Losing what?

No one knows for any certainty exactly what Putin and his inner circle want
except NATO not going full Cuba on them. We didn’t like it in 1962.
They don’t like it either in 2022.

Last night at the Oscars the person most hurt by Will Smith was Zelensky.
Ukraines only victories so far have been in info-war, and an incident of black on black crime at the Oscars just took all the air out of the room.

Since this is the official kickoff to WW3, I prefer to look at the bigger picture. Putin vs Victoria Nuland is the little picture.

On one side, we have the five eyes countries and the NATO countries of western Europe. On the other side, we have Russia, China and India aligning. We may be too stupid to be playing these games, as evidenced by suicidal sanctions that will destroy much of Europe within a year or two. Our stealing half of Russia’s foreign reserve deposits has all countries a little jumpy now. They are all looking for a way out of dollars, meaning the dollar will no longer be the reserve currency. Meaning our economy crashes like never before. Can we crush Russia and her allies before we implode ourselves and without destroying the world? I kind of doubt it with the psychopaths and morrans we have in charge now.

It is very early in the war, but a lot does hinge on the outcome in the Ukraine. Early results hands down go to Russia. Anything you hear contrary to that is media bullshit. The Uki army is now slowly and methodically being ground to dust. Watch for a chemical false flag in the coming weeks, and a push to get NATO involved. The media is prepping the sheep for this now, by making it look like Putin is blocked and desperate, hence likely to do this. In reality he has no need for a chemical or bio attack. Once NATO is in the game, the shit can really start to happen. I’m pretty sure there will be a couple of carriers sunk by those now battle tested hyper-sonic missiles, plus some tactical nukes here and there.

Your sketch of the next month or two in Ukraine sounds all too probable, though I don’t want to see a wider or longer war.

I suppose one should ask “wider or longer war, compared to what?” My response would be “compared to whatever the Russians think will lead to long term stability.”

FWIW, there was a series of nasty little wars twixt Russia and Finland, which seem to have ultimately worked out satisfactorily enough.
