As recently as 2 years ago, Chevrolet was warning its EV owners not to park in their garages or near expensive cars … didn’t want the liability from fire damage.

As it just so happens, our office is on the first floor of a building where there is a utility room containing electrical supply panels powering everything in our office, including our servers. One week ago, an employee of the landlord charged his electric unicycle in there and the exact same thing happened. Big explosion, extensive fire and general chaos. No one hurt, but our server was down for two days until a generator was procured (for the server only, no lights or aux power and everybody back to working at home). Electrical contractors working 24/7 to fix it, could be weeks before the interior grid is restored and the office (sprinkler flood damage and nasty smell) is habitable again.
All because of a stupid toy. Not sure how or if insurance will even handle it at this point.

from what I know Lithium iron phosphate batteries are OK. It’s the lithium titanate that can undergo run away burn outs like the one in this video.

Where are the batteries coming from? Exploding batteries were not something I was aware of many years ago. I ran a garage in one of my many incarnations as a young man, never once saw an exploding battery.
You’re going to see a lot more of this because an engineering degree is not an engineering degree. It’s a social indoctrination degree. Planes are going to fall out of the sky; bridges will fall; electricity/computer/internet outages and on and on.
While watching this and realizing how much of a moron this guy is, it reminds me why I have fire extinguishers on hand throughout the house and garage. The amount of time that fat ass was running around the place I would have had the fire out by grabbing a fire extinguisher and dousing it.
