I must be simple. Colt’s officer model 1911, specifically, no mods to the trigger. You have to mean to trigger it. Pie plate accuracy point and shoot out to thirty yards once comfortable with it. Thousands of rounds and one stovepipe with a practice load (4.8g Hercules Unique+230g LRN). Barely enough to operate it, bullet drop four inches at fifteen yards. Great fun tossing them in there and no pain practicing. The firearm was lost with several others on a trip across Deep Lake back in the oughts.

CZ-P-09 or H & K USP .40

….unless you are going to religiously train with a micro carry gun, full sized or medium much better option to hit the target aimed at; even though harder to conceal.

“honest outlaw” is the best youtube gun channel imo

I have a sincere love for the ParaOrdnance P14. A 1911 .45 that has a 14 round double stack magazine. It’s a big lunk on your belt, but an honest to God tack driver. Fits my hands perfectly. Shoots all day long without a hitch. The big problem with it is the affordability of .45 projectiles.

Which brings me to my second choice, a Sig Sauer P226 that followed me home from Germany in the early 8o’s, and was subsequently lost in a boating accident. 16+1 9mm with instinctive ergonomics, peerless reliability and accuracy.

The Ruger Security Six is another favorite. Just an all-around fine duty revolver and a workhorse. I developed a strong liking for the Tanfoglio pistols in 10mm and .45. Excellent guns at a (then) very reasonable price. Gee, now that I’m started I could go on and on. So many awesome guns to talk about. The Star BM a 1911 style pistol reduced in size proportional to it’s 9mm cartridge, the Dan Wesson .44 mag, Kimber 10mm, etc, etc.

The biggest POS, which got thrown in the lake, was the Keltec P9AT. I never could get the feel for a Glock.
