Moscow Warns US In Diplomatic Letter: Arming Ukraine To Result In “Unpredictable Consequences”

Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,

Russia sent a formal diplomatic note to the US this week calling on Washington and NATO to stop arming Ukraine. The note, which was obtained by The Washington Postsaid the Western campaign to pour weapons into Ukraine was “adding fuel” to the conflict and could lead to “unpredictable consequences.”

The diplomatic note was sent Tuesday, when news broke of a new massive US military aid package for Ukraine. President Biden announced the new aid on Wednesday, which is worth $800 million and includes howitzers for the first time. The package also includes helicopters, armed Switchblade drones, coastal defense drones, armored vehicles, radar systems, and thousands of Stinger and Javelin missiles.

The Russian note was sent to the State Department by the Russian Embassy in Washington. It said the US and its NATO allies were ignoring “rigorous principles” on the transfer of weapons into the conflict zone and said the Western powers are oblivious to “the threat of high-precision weapons falling into the hands of radical nationalists, extremists and bandit forces in Ukraine.”

The Russians accused NATO of pressuring Ukraine to “abandon” peace talks with Moscow “in order to continue the bloodshed.” The US and most of its NATO allies have shown little interest in supporting the negotiations between the warring sides. The Western powers are signaling that they don’t want Kyiv to make any concessions to Moscow.

The Post reported last week that for some NATO members “it’s better for the Ukrainians to keep fighting, and dying, than to achieve a peace that comes too early or at too high a cost to Kyiv and the rest of Europe.”

The formal Russian protest of the US arming Ukraine could be a precursor to Russia launching airstrikes on weapons shipments in Ukraine. On Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that Moscow would view US or NATO vehicles transporting arms inside Ukraine as “legitimate military targets.”

It’s not clear if any US or NATO vehicles have actually brought weapons into Ukraine since Russia invaded. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby has said that Ukrainian troops bring the weapons into Ukraine after the US brings them to Eastern Europe. So far, there haven’t been reports of Russia targeting weapons shipments as they enter Ukraine, but Moscow has hit weapons depots. Earlier this week, Russia said it destroyed an S-300 missile defense system in Ukraine that was provided by a European country.

Russia’s protest highlights the danger of the US-led campaign to pour weapons into Ukraine and the risk of provoking Moscow. On top of arming the Ukrainians, the US is also providing them with intelligence for attacks on Russian forces. The huge amount of support raises questions about at what point Russia would consider the US a co-belligerent in the war.

I can’t believe that at going on 68 years old, my personal ending could come in a nuclear blast. When I tell friends and family this, they think it is looney tunes thinking.

In his Sitrep report just yesterday, the Saker now believes that open conflict with NATO …. that would be the USA!USA!USA! —– is inevitable.

Prepare accordingly.

So you agree?

I don’t know, after realizing through this that NATO has been in [limited] hot war with Russia since 2014… conclusions such as the one you refer to by the-site-who-must-not-be-named seem to be a bit besides the point.

Or in other words WW3 started long ago.

NATO is getting their ass handed to them [in Ukraine], and a choice [by NATO] to go nuclear isn’t really making more sense today, or tomorrow, than yesterday.

There are few options left to the psychopaths but war. Should they ever be tried for their crimes, they know they would hang.

I retract my doubts.
Watch

Scott Ritter points to the Finland-Russia treaty of 1992 (which I had never heard of) that had basically guaranteed Finnish neutrality, and forecasts that if Finland joins NATO in June [2022], and “allows itself to be used as an existential threat to Russia”, then Finland will get the ‘Ukraine treatment’ by Russia as well.

I don’t have near enough access to real truthful information to agree or disagree. Not to mention so much info out there is bullshit.

The Saker, however, seems like a straight shooter. Yes, he is pro-Russia. But, has criticized Russia strongly when he felt it was warranted. I like / somewhat trust a guy like that. His opinions are ALWAYS laced with detail explanations.

But,I shall try to entertain your question with a wild assed guess. I lean towards “no”.

1. I simply don’t believe that any European NATO country is willing to sacrifice their soldiers. They have a pussified military, a pussified government, and a pussified populace. Maybe Germany would be willing to send Soldaten there …. but, as soon as the body count reached 10 they will probably go home.

2. America is the wild card. I will never doubt what our totally psychopath leaders will do. FJB. But, it took something like 7 -8 months to get all our shit over to Iraq, and that was under FRIENDLY skies! How in the hell will they get their shit into Ukraine?? Russkie S400 / S500 will shoot those airplanes dead before the wheels even touch the ground. It will be a bloodbath. And doing all the staging in Poland won’t help. Russia will not allow the USA to pull that shit.

I could change my worthless opinion tomorrow. Things are changing daily, and quickly. As you said, that Finland decision (if they decide to join NATO) could change everything.

This is all theatre.
Putin has NATO’s permission….”just drag it out as long as possible.”
All the problems of the world are being blamed on this, I would not be surprised if there is a tactical low level nuke used by Russia, with NATO’s permission.
Think of the panic! More control of the citizenry …and they will BEG for it.
It’s really not that hard to figure out.
When are the “rapture” and “tribulation” and the “antichrist” fairytales supposed to happen?

If NATO/US gets involved with this war/incursion directly, THAT’S how I’ll finally know that Russia has been winning all along.

Sending billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine is probably going to end up about the same as all the weapons, training, and support we funneled to Al Qaeda in order to fight the soviets in Afghanistan. Give it a few years until like minded racial and ethnic supremacists from around the world flock to Ukraine for military training and weapons and then with likely EU membership for Ukraine have easy travel across all of Europe. We are creating and arming a monster that is going to come for us or various minority groups at some point.

Ran across a Russian musician/poet who made several videos a number of years ago (edited news footage followed by a song commenting on it). The link here is to one for what it was like to be a child in Donbas on the receiving end of Ukrainian weapons. The English subtitles in these various videos are not that great (with some on the video itself and others running through YT CC function) but are not forgettable. This is what the west has been supporting for 8 years and likely part of the reason Russia decided to step in on the side of the Donbas republics.

This countries record of sending weapons to who is perceived as the good guys of the moment stinks.
Reagan sent Stinger missiles to Mujahideen in Afghanistan they morphed into the Taliban. Sent Saddam Hussain weapons for a while against Iran. Proxy wars in African shit hole countries. Ukraine is already one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. Somalia being the most corrupt, remember Somalia?? Somalia gave us Ilhan Omar…Ungrateful immigrant grift queen..
How about just staying out of a conflict for once……….

Why do you think old Joe and his son were always in the country to get the kickback graft? The country is rotten and so are the people in the US that deal with it.

Sorry Secretary Austin, Russia’s invasion was not unprovoked. The West, NATO, and the totally corrupt government of Ukraine did everything possible to provoke Russia into invading Ukraine.

I must have dozed off. Could someone explain why the U.S. is part of NATO, when the Soviet Union fell apart 30 years ago? And while you’re at it why is there a NATO at all? Then just for grins, fill me in on what America gets for its membership and funding of the UN.

I keep hearing “We’re not the world’s police force.” Excuse me, but I think we ARE, and it’s time we resigned.

Does anyone remember voting to spend billions of our tax dollars on weapons for Ukraine?
Or going to (proxy) war with Russia?
