A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

AMAZING GRACE on the LARGEST PIPE ORGAN in the Netherlands – St. Laurenskerk Rotterdam – Paul Fey
I repeat again that the symphony orchestra is one of the most magnificent and complex institutions that we get to enjoy so very much here. Also your valuable notes and insights for the background of the works is priceless.
Musing about the mechanical creation of the instruments is a fascination for me, the Yamaha horn, Piano factories and of course the Steinway and Bosendorfer piano creations.
However there is no greater example of human ingenuity, craftsmanship and creativity than the monster pipe organs and the cathedrals created for them. Astounding is an inadequate description.
Here we go for a look, and listen to the special talents of the players!
Organist Josh Stafford plays Bohemian Rhapsody on the largest pipe organ in the world
This organ has 33,000 pipes!!!
THE GODFATHER
Today I bring you the unique and beautiful music of The Orkester Mandolina Ljubljana from Slovenia. Rather than I explain them, I’ll let them do it themselves.
The Mandolina Ljubljana Orchestra is the only ensemble in Slovenia, whose members have chosen the mandolin as their companion on their musical journey. In Slovenia, the mandolin has only recently been given a more significant role in various musical styles, from classical to pop. We, the members of the orchestra feel honoured and obligated to make the audience more familiar with this mellifluous plucked string instrument and to bring to their ears genuine mandolin music. In our repertoire there are also compositions written by classical composers, arrangements of folk tunes, film music and evergreens.
We have had numerous successful appearances at home and abroad in more than thirty years of our performing. This, good critics and more and more satisfied audiences, assure us that we are on the right path.
There are no Violins, no Violas, and no Cellos. Also, there is no brass section or a Woodwinds section, but at times it seems that you can almost hear some of those various instruments. These guys and gals are great.
This first piece is Nino Rota’s Godfather Suite.
Maestro Andrej Zupan
Tanja Pirc – primo mandolino solista
0:11 Godfather Waltz
2:36 Connie’s Wedding
4:23 Love Theme
Hotel California
Next, they’ll play a good old-fashioned American song titled: “Hotel California.”
A great rendition it is.

Somewhere In My Memory
Now it is “Somewhere In My Memory,” with some nice vocals.
SUITE LATINOAMERICANA
And now, something with a bit of flair from them.
STING – ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK
This next one is entertaining. Maestro Andrej Zupan breaks out his clarinette for an old Sting song – An Englishman in N.Y.
SPACE ODDITY – David Bowie
Next they’re going to break out David Bowie’s Space Oddity.
Johann Strauss II – AN DER SCHÖNEN BLAUEN DONAU
We’ll conclude this week’s chapter of the Orkester Mandolina Ljubljana, but Chapter 2 will be in the hopper soon.
We’ll close it out with a more classical piece. To create this beautiful music with a limited variety of instruments is incredible. They sound like a full symphony orchestra.
I hope that you have enjoyed this very unique ensemble.
Have a sensational Sunday.

Heaven help us…
liked: The Orkester Mandolina Ljubljana from Slovenia.
What an interesting find to offer up to us, Gentlemen. Tanks!
In the spirit of those strings, and the Eagle’s Hotel California,
I came upon this last night late, while browsing.
Not classical per se, but, a familiar tune, covered well, even with the overdubs.
Hope those who enjoyed the music of the 70’s can let this No Lyrics guitar composition
bring you some good vibes on this fine 2nd Sunday of Easter morn.
Cheers.
SMC – That’s nice.
We’ll use it on June 5th.
Many thanks.
Once again Heaven has helped us with all your wonderful efforts and selections. THANKS MUCH Sir!
This the creativity of the human race is well demonstrated with the mandolin efforts here.
A similar effort from this one instrument orchestra is worth a listen!
One more very special presentation is this hour long guitar work.
The Omni concerts are an additional effort worth pursuing, and new to me.
One more great performance, Sir.
GREAT Classical guitar with orchestra.
