The other day I googled “percentage of MN electricity from renewables” and the internet told me “26%”. I don’t believe that for a fucking second. Yes, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of windmills in southern MN (executing migratory birds), but there’s no goddamn way that they provide 21-22% of our total annual electricity usage. (Supposedly we get ~ 3% from solar and 1-2% from hydroelectric?!?!?.) Maybe 26% on a given, optimal day, but not annualized. I know goddamn well that those windmills mostly work to sell power into a grid that exists only because of our two nuclear plants and a host of natural gas and even a few remaining coal plants. All data is provided by government or renewable energy fanbois, so they spin it to their ends. No journalist will dig into it and provide context or corrections because they’re all leftists and there’s no money in contravening the narrative.
Meanwhile Minnesota Public Radio ran a story today prepping us for possible rolling blackouts this summer.
And wind power and solar energy can’t produce the heat energy needed to make solar panels.
