It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. You put today’s yoots on that old style train and all you would have after an hour is rubble.
Is this really apples versus apples? Isn’t the train on the left a long-distance passenger train and the one on the right a subway train or similar mass transit coach? The one on the right might end up packed wall to wall, while the one on the left has a limited passenger load, etc. I’ve taken Amtrak long distance and it is not luxurious in the least, but it’s no where near as crappy as mass transit. For sure if the government had no role, whatever remained would likely be quite nice.
I did not even know they had color photography back in 1883, but then this photo must be of a train in Wakanda, hell they invented everything.
The car is on the left looks to be a restored museum piece.
Comparing it to government mass transit is disingenuous, but long distance Amtrak is similarly dismal.
Look at an old, ornate street car from the 1920’s for a comparison on mass transit.
This is the full tilt Sovietization of American transit in general.
For those old enough, compare 1970’s air travel with today.
Mass importing ghetto civilization and the homegrown ghetto cultures have created an environment where we can’t have nice things in the community.
Another sign of the fall of the empire.
I remember flying with my mom in the 1970s in a 747. There was a great lounge in the back of the plane with drinks, video game consoles that you sat at, and comfy seats. The first class lounge upstairs was even nicer.
London underground train in 1900.
Hah! And in 1883 the shit stinking homeless wouldn’t even think of getting on that train, and if they did a few able men on board would promptly throw them off, to the quiet appreciation of all the other patrons. Different world.
Yes, but in 1883, you were expected to wear a 3 piece suit and tie to ride the nice cars on the train.
Common folks rode this car.
Zero graffiti though.
Spanish train in 1885 (painting by Joaqin Sorolla)
As the student inquired of the master:
Is it the travel or the destination which is more important?
The master answered: With the exception of private jet, yacht or limo it’s ALL steerage now.
Elephant in the room is we have a particular group of people who’s culture is to destroy, rape and murder. They don’t want to be civilized and love it. That’s one of the reasons we can’t have nice things now.
There are many luxury trains in the world, I would love to ride them all but you would have to spend thick bank on that including travel cost to different continents. For the average traveler, Japan has some really nice trains that are far more affordable. Russia has a awesome train (not a luxury ride) that covers 11 time zones, takes a long time but I would give anything to take the trip across that country.
I just need to live to 125 and win the lottery.
This is a trip I will do for sure:
High-Speed Railway (HSR) Construction by Country (1965-2019)
But but China bad and fake economy!
The one illustrated on the left is absolutely a train. The one on the right, I believe is more or less a subway car, which I doubt were any more luxurious when they were in their early days.
Ahhh … back when we were The UNITED States of America … still a Sovereign Nation … still a Civilized Nation … a melting pot, not a chamber pot …
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that probably back in 1883 the dregs of society weren’t riding and/or defecating in the rail cars.
As I’ve heard before: Change is inevitable, growth is optional …
