The reason, as a retired poor cowboy I’m not “required” to file an income tax return at my “income” level. And the fact I had not filed the previous year before I was excluded from the one stimulus ,which is crap, because for certain I am a member of the social security club known as a SS number, since 1966 as a matter of fact. I had to file a meaningless tax return in order to get that one. But low and behold, as fate would have it on the “free stuff” , because i was working part time I discovered I was eligible for the earned income credit deal so received another free handout.

I repay my debts. The few times a friend may have “loaned” me five, ten, twenty bucks I ALWAYS remember it rather than conveniently “forget” about it. Damn, I hate having to ask someone to repay five bucks. The thing is though, some people are simply irresponsible about that sort of thing. My “credit” rating is 810. It slips a bit because I immediately pay any charge I may place on a credit card. I’ve always thought it weird on the “credit rating” if you are not using credit and in debt up to your butt those credit rating agencies penalize your rating. No debt, no car loans , no mortgage … something ain’t right how those agencies operate. Based on my attention to staying out of debt and repaying debt it seems my rating should be “credit worthy” as in a “score” around 10,000.

The guy that owns the local hardware store, the daughter enrolled at Texas A&M, wife a high school counselor, stress is, go to college. What can I say. I suppose unless one owns the hardware store , not many really believe they can make a living working at the hardware store and especially with the increase over the years of local retail businesses only offering part-time employment. Seems to me we are already electronic currency. It was my choice I chose my last full time job checks to be automatically deposited so I never saw the checks, only the amount deposited and an electronic pay stub. Not the same I suppose yet what’s the difference? You get a debit card and buy stuff electronically. I would drop by the ole credit union every two weeks and withdraw cash to place in the safe. I was perturbed one time though when learning I could only draw so much cash at one time, a limit. I played the game, took the “allowed” amount of MY money then drove around the building and back through the drive through only to be told I had already drawn the limit as it is a daily limit. Those folks are SMART, what can I say, electronically checking I had already made the “allowed” withdrawal. What kind of crap is that? There’s no way they can resume these repayments after deferring over $1 trillion of debt without having MAJOR consequences. Also, since student loans can’t be discharged in bankruptcy I assume there’s a lot of toxic derivatives attached to these loans that are set to implode the moment “repayments” begin.

And no matter how you dress it up, this is not loan forgiveness, it is a transfer of the debt from those that voluntarily took it on and received something in payment, no matter how worthless, to everyone else in society.
I don’t think this is just as simple as “I borrowed money and now I have no right to complain about being stupid”.
The fact of the matter is that this is a banker orchestrated racket, a way to fleece people who are trying to better themselves. The loans are all can’t lose-federally guaranteed, and are non-dischargeable. Their very presence is what has driven the cost of college education through the roof (rising much faster than inflation since the loan racket was created). Even those who worked and made enough that they didn’t take a loan get screwed twice — first by paying dramatically inflated college costs, and second by paying for everyone else who defaulted via taxes.
Only a corrupt country run by criminals would try to fleece their kids even before they make it out into the world. It’s time we recognized this racket for what it is, and stopped chasing the carrot (federal elections) they dangle before us. This change will have to come via other means.
Many young people I know apply for the Pell Grants and their parents vote republican. There’s that less spending platform again.
