However, don’t be fooled. The passing of a queen is a seminal moment and cannot be left to chance. The timing, I think you will agree, is immaculate, and the ramifications of a major direction change for Joe Public is beautiful to see, at least from my pinnacle in SW England. I cast no aspersions, but I do reserve judgement especially in memory of Lady Di. I will say no more, for the moment and allow the Brits to grieve their loss – as always!
STOP PRESS: The PM made an announcement in the House today about HMG Energy Policy. The present ‘Cap’ will be fixed at £2,500pa for two years for domestic users, and for six months for commercial, educational and government users. No other details have been released at the time of publication.
DESPITE consistent polling showing Truss with overwhelming leads during the leadership race, she only beat Sunak: 57% to 43% which was the closest outcome since the party started asking its members to decide leaderships in 2001. Truss is also the first Conservative to win the leadership without the backing of a majority of her own MPs.
A snap poll for YouGov on Tuesday found that 50% of Brits were disappointed that she will be the next PM, against 22% who were pleased – a view echoed in on-the-ground, details from Josh Halliday in the “red wall” seat of Bassetlaw and Jessica Murray in Truss’ own South West Norfolk constituency. Labour are hoping that any appeal to voters will quickly fade as they get to know Bizzy Lizzy over the coming months

For the 2ic in Downing Street, it will be nothing new for her Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, but he faces the most daunting of tasks at the Treasury. THE LIZ TRUSS AGENDA – The first week is nearly over
On Monday, Liz Truss made a short speech after the leadership result was announced at lunchtime; however it was a close-run result and doesn’t bode well for Tory Party unity going forward. Her short speech in Downing Street on Tuesday afternoon saw Liz Truss try to execute her first big task to incentivise and reassure ‘We the People’, and away from the endless theatrical drama that has been performed over the last several weeks.
Appointments: While there was talk of bringing talent into the cabinet from across a wide swathe of the Conservative Party, the big four jobs went to loyalists on the ‘right. This is an approach which one minister told the Observer would unleash “absolute mayhem” if followed across the board. Thus we have Kwasi Kwarteng as Chancellor, James Cleverly as Foreign Secretary, Suella Braverman at the Home Office and, Thérèse Coffey for Health as well as Deputy PM; but they are close buddies anyway.
The remaining Lion Heart, Rishi Sunak was nowhere to be seen, for which I am immensely relieved, as he is deeply committed to the caustic WEF anyway – he may even have been their choice. PMQs: Wednesday: Truss has spent much of the campaign dodging difficult interviews, but she couldn’t get out of PM’s question-time on Wednesday. Keir Starmer may lack Nigel Farage’s attack-spirit and penchant for honest reporting; he tried unsuccessfully to capitalise on only slightly visible nerves but Liz took it all very well, settling down to the usual cut and thrust of the House. It was all about cost-of-living and energy of course.
If you don’t wish to miss this week’s fun and games – watch GB News (it beats the sclerotic BBC hands down). Tory backbenchers, around 200 of whom have never publicly backed Truss, were not baying in that usual school playground way, this time – it was all rather civilised for once.
However there is the hard-core 12 who are allegedly already agitating for the return of Johnson but are almost certainly dead-in-the-water, especially when BoJo gets ravaged by the Commons Privileges Committee which tells us that the committee’s final report may not be published until late autumn or winter 2022 – if then. Economic crisis, inflation, markets and the GBP: The British pound (GBP) has come under pressure this week due to the uncertainty surrounding the Truss Admin’s policy announcements dealing with potential business failures, failing economic growth (GDP), employment prospects going forward, and the Treasury’s approach to interest rates to ‘contain inflation’. All of which also hang on the possibility of a trade war with the EU over the Brexit unresolved border issues.
Energy Policy – Thursday Speech: Truss said she would axe green levies, and the 5% VAT on fuel bills; but no hints of any reverses planned for the rises in national insurance and corporation tax. Yesterday on TV she told Laura Kuennsberg that it was wrong to look at her NI freeze, which will benefit the richest vastly more than the poorest, “through the lens of distribution”. But the defining question of her premiership will be how far she is prepared to go to help the worst off, but her declared £100bn intervention didn’t seem to include and ‘hand-outs’ or a hint of UBI – perhaps later in the month. She is certainly following Lord Keynes’ advice: “When the facts change I change my mind”
The first 100 days:
Pay demands & Strikes: Truss’ team has briefed reporters that there will be a sharp focus on the first 100 days as defining of her premiership. But the TUC congress starting next Sunday is likely to set an extremely difficult tone, with some of the country’s biggest unions expected to move towards ‘coordinated industrial action’: (Newspeak for: ‘Synchronised Action’; aka ‘General Strike’). Truss appears to have little interest in conciliation: she has promised to legislate within 30 days to restrict key workers’ legal rights to strike through so called “minimum service levels”. It’s a recipe for disaster on a scale not seen since Maggie got shafted over the Poll Tax. In this event I guess Truss will have only months as PM before – wait for it – BoJo is resurrected and leaps to the rescue with all the bluster of the 7th Cavalry!
Commerce & SMEs: As much as 60% of British manufacturing businesses are at risk of closure, according to a recent survey as soaring energy bills and the wider cost-of-living crisis has owners feeling the squeeze. ‘MakeUK’, a manufacturing lobby organization in the U.K., announced on Saturday that 42% of manufacturers have seen their electricity bills rise by 100% in the past 12 months, and another 32% have seen their gas bill double.
The rise in prices has seen 13% of manufacturers already reduce their hours of operation, and 12% have been forced to make job cuts as a direct result of increased energy bills. Illegal Immigration – the Channel Boat People: This is an immediate and crucial crisis for the PM who has an almost impossible task if she is forced to comply with the obsolete: “European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) which protects the human rights of people in countries that belong to the Council of Europe.”
Formed in 1949, the ‘Council of Europe’ is completely separate from the European Union and is much larger, with 47 members compared to the EU’s 27. The UK became a Council member 24 years before it joined the EU. I guess this is just another FUBAR perpetrated by BoJo when executing Brexit and he falsely claimed that “He Got Brexit Done.” HE DIDN’T – he got it barely started, albeit by nefarious machinations with UK constitutional statutes and then forgot about the details; which bring us to another item for the next agenda – Northern Ireland – below.
Ukraine: Truss has (in my view fatally) stuck to BoJo’s misplaced policy: “I will be Ukraine’s greatest friend,” she said in July. She has promised “more heavy weapons” and “more sanctions”. But as high energy prices bite over the winter, the broad coalition in Europe and at home supporting that position is already fracturing.
The pressing question is whether a new PM, who has revelled in taking pot-shots at her EU counterparts for years, will be well placed enough to maintain her support for Ukraine in the face of the explosions, like Czechia, with of over 70,000 angry protesters on the streets this week – and with more EU countries following close behind.
This will surely spread throughout the EU which was ever only been an impossible vision by a few madmen captivated by power in a fascist bureaucracy of unelected technocrats led by the inevitable German Fourth Reich. You only have to observe how many ‘Teutonic Knights’ are littered amongst the tens of thousands of bureaucratic mandarins inhabiting Brussels led by the arch villain, Ursula von der Leyen, baring a family history not unconnected to the Third Reich of ‘you know who’. If you have any doubt of my words – do your own research – it’s all there to find – our elites are nothing if not shy to publish their evil plans to all and sundry without reservation.
Yet even in Boris’ last days in power, he has the effrontery to jet over to Ukraine, embrace the commander of the Azov Nazi brigade and gleefully accept a pathetic gong for sending them UK weapons with which to prosecute the conflict indefinitely, when in truth he should be agitating for peace negotiations, as offered by Mr Putin many times, together with other partially enlightened European leaders like Macron, to save the tragic suffering of all those innocent Ukrainian people.
This all happening at the behest of US/NATO, lead by the toxic criminal Biden, in order to save the US declared foreign policy of ‘TOTAL SPECTRUM DOMINANCE‘; an American euphemism for world domination in the name of a ‘democracy’ that doesn’t exist. Men and women, mums and dads, kids and babies are being unnecessarily maimed and killed in horrific circumstances every day, just so the ‘Great Satan’ can survive a few more years until their whole rotten edifice of corruption and hubris dies a painful death. Brexit: The NI protocol bill is hugely controversial because it allows UK to override Brexit trade arrangements without EU consent. It was passed through the House of Commons by Truss herself earlier this year. Its passage in the House of Lords looks much less assured. This will give Truss an early opportunity to assert her new Brexit credentials (only recently acquired post 2019) and she has only until September 15 to trigger Article 16, which would suspend parts of the agreement, admittedly as a stopgap. Do I detect shades of Lord Keynes again? Really, can we trust a ‘mess of potage’ that is Bill. Truss changes her allegiances as often as I change my socks it seems, bit I’ve already addressed this facet of her personality.
Coronavirus: Under AOB, Truss will want to deal with a ‘new outbreak of Covid-19’ but by the 100th day of her administration on December 15, there is every possibility that the UK will face a rising induced ‘case count’. Infection rates this summer were higher than they were in 2020 or 2021 but survival rates were 99.9% – so nothing to worry about. With pressure on NHS resources (BTW not due to Covid) likely to be elevated by Vaxx damage and excess deaths of unspecified origin (SADS), Truss will have nowhere to turn.
Truss and Thérèse Coffey may come under pressure from medical and scientific advisers (aka the SAGE military PsyOp cabal) to act. But Truss has already ‘ruled out’ further lockdowns, and said that restrictions at the peak of the pandemic were too strict.
Yeah, Yeah – we’ve heard it all before – THEY ALL LIE – wait until the WHO starts dictating to the world – then Truss will capitulate, just like Boris when he failed to follow Sweden’s lead. In hindsight the facts will tell the story which is already emerging if you care to look, and a few more are listening this time around. But still the BBC incessantly publishes constant entreaties for everyone to get ‘Vaxxed for the winter’. Forget the BBC, they’re just goberment stooges – follow GB News – at least they are open, fair and honest.
NHS & Care Homes: With over 6 million seeking health care on the waiting list and hundreds of thousands unable to exit beds, because the care homes system has fallen apart, like much of everything in Britain today; Liz will have to do something to put yet another Band-Aid in place before the cold winds of the North bear down on a freezing and hungry nation. Then with A & E overwhelmed, even more deaths will happen, possibly even before Christmas, then the funeral directors will stumble with increased demand – it’s multiple dominoes you see – well, I won’t go there just now but you get the picture.
The first year
Energy: Once the immediate emergency is in hand – not that many observers expect that to be easily achieved – Truss told Kuenssberg that “we also need to sort out the supply issues”. She said that would mean allowing fracking for shale gas where local support exists as well as expanding the usual ‘renewable’ sources (which aren’t actually – but that’s for another day – I prefer ‘replaceables’). She also confirmed her willingness to expand drilling for oil in the North Sea – a stance which will not instil confidence in her commitment to Net Zero, and in any case would take decades to bear fruit. All this she reaffirmed in her speech today, adding hydrogen, nuclear and SMRs (small modular reactors). I didn’t catch anything about tidal, hydro and geothermal. One MP thought that UK had hundreds of years of gas and stuff under our little island, but didn’t offer any references or how to get it out; they leave this to the Plebs whilst the parasites party and have playtime.
Red in ‘Tooth & Claw’ Party members: will expect to see a long list of commitments fulfilled: more grammar schools, the abolition of “Stalinist” housing targets, a war on the “woke” civil service and perhaps an end to motorway speed limits (doubtful). While this is somewhat a Mad Max vision, it is likely to get the Boris camp salivating like Pavlov’s dogs in eager expectation of a major policy error. Truss has also told colleagues she is determined to “strip away the crap”.
That might mean many of these aspirations stay on the “to do” list – it’s a big ask as she will be attacking the ‘Establishment’ – you know, the ones who partied with BoJo all through the lockdowns but still haven’t been identified or punished, and who really run the country and are all powerful. ‘No new taxes’ Truss could hardly have stated this promise more straightforwardly, or be more liable to criticism from the right if she breaches it. The question is whether she can stick to her guns as the costs of helping the most vulnerable with their bills become clear – and if the cost of borrowing increases as the interest rate rises in line with the BoE stated policy.
Housing crisis: There is a massive shortage of affordable homes all over the UK. For decades the governments of the day have ignored the insider dealings and corruption rife within major corporations, developers, land owners and planning officials. The fabled council house system has long gone, sold off by Maggie in the 1980s, and now that cosy relationship of “Public/Private” enterprise system has taken over all our crucial services and utilities and as Kier Starmer replied to Liz’s speech: In Britain: “The rich get richer and the poor get stuffed” or words to that effect, but that’s all you need to know.
Scottish Independence: Truss is in a cat-fight with Sturgeon at present saying, in so many word, that she is a spoilt little brat and will spike her guns by legislating for a 50%+ majority of the electorate on a vote to hold a referendum – it is believed that this is almost impossible to achieve, and thus Sturgeon goes the way of the dinosaur – and not too soon either.
Northern Ireland – ‘a Virtual Border in the Irish Sea’: In common with his actions during all his rakish life to date, BoJo has in reality left Liz Truss with a Brexit in one hell of an unholy mess with the Northern Ireland government at Stormont being in suspended animation – in effect a chaotic Mexican Stand-off – with no cavalry in sight. It is yet another zombie government in effective exile. Not content to screw up this Irish affair, BoJo then embarked on a totally illegal series of 2020 Covid lockdowns, the results of which every one of us is suffering today.
The 2020 Covid ‘Scamdemic‘: Boris, as PM in overall control of an engineered crises not far short of 1940 wartime Britain, could have taken the sensible Swedish route had he had a functioning brain cell and a few balls. Instead, whilst the great British public was confined to their homes for two years, off and on, spending their time frightened to death through a deliberate HMG-approved military-grade PsyOp programme [to which the British government have fessed up]; perpetuated by a group of supposed academic experts at SAGE and Imperial College et al.
The naturally introverted and retiring scientists; often socially awkward and being unfamiliar when bursting into sudden celebrity status, egged on by the captured media with their 30 minutes of fame, have since gone back to their ivory towers; as exposed are their blatant lies, fraudulent statistics and heinous crimes which have gradually seen the light day in late 2022. Heads need to roll for these unforgivable sins and crimes; but is Liz up to the task? Will the female prove deadlier than the male? You need to get popcorn at the ready for the next act of political theatre exploding in 2023. General Election 2024: Labour has enjoyed a steady lead in the polls over the summer, now being around 15% ahead of the Tories. While Truss may see some bounce as she takes office (traditional honeymoon period), she already has low personal favourability ratings and with a winter of discontent upon her – her best hope appears to be to delay an election until the last minute, which means very late 2024, judging that Keir Starmer fails to capture the public imagination (not difficult to envisage). A fifth Tory term may turn out to be an elusive dream when set against a backdrop of so many unresolved crises at home and abroad. Are we to bear yet another coalition?
FINALLY: (this has gone on too long already, but as you can see, there are so many UK crises to cover). As usual, HMG with their out-of-touch bunch of advisers, missed out on Business Economics 101, all the while wasting 3+ years studying critical race theory, LJBQing or something whatever, transatlantic-ing people who are unsure who they are, and re-gendering primary school kids.
This all being generally described as ‘Woke’ which Liz says she is going to sort out in no uncertain terms? But of course, our politicians, with their ‘advisors’ and mandarins have no idea about these things or the more important ‘business economics’ (which is what this whole quagmire of screw-ups is all about). They are likely to ‘Keep Calm And Carry On‘ in the spirit of 1940 Winston as eulogised by Boris, whistling in the dark with their crass idioms, partying like no tomorrow, and thus the ‘theatre of farce’ will march onward, whilst Joe Public picks up the tab.

I know that the English used to mine coal; did they mine it all out of the ground or did they make coal a sacred cow (ie, something they would rather freeze to death before use)? During the War, the English cultivated every available acre; have they decided to “save the Earth” and sacrifice themselves by starving rather than farming? Maggie warned that the problem is Socialism always runs out of other peoples money; that happened and the West just printed more money; now stuff is beginning to hyper-inflate; time has come to curtail Socialism and promote work (production).
Officially, the UK has only “two years of reserves” of coal in the ground, at current rates of consumption.

Yep – on the button rhs jr. We have plenty of coal in deep mines in the north of England even extending under the North Sea. Britain has been mismanaged ever since WW2 when we actually lost, as it turns out, and Germany won – we are now seeing the rise of the Fourth Reich – the Teutonic Knights never went away; they are now running the EU.
England can easily be self-sufficient in energy, food and all the necessities of a frugal life – the one I remember immediately post war. We had little, but we were healthy and happy. I don’t know much about Lizzie noTRUSSt. But, most everything I have read is highly negative. One commenter said she’s more evil than Dick Cheney, dumber than Biden, and more ruthless than Hillary. Yikes. Another article said she won’t last more than a year.

The trouble with my lovely SA friends is that this is all they do; they ‘make a plan’ and then forget all about it! It’s very like in most warm/hot countries – always time for play and put off till tomorrow what really should be done today. My Spanish friends are always saying: “puede esperar hasta mañana” It makes for a lovely relaxed way of life which I miss so much in Cape Town.

I am working towards 2024 by which time I guess Britain will be well down the rabbit hole and there will be plenty of yachts in abandoned marinas begging to be taken to sea. (only 20% of boats actually leave their berths – they are used as holiday homes for landsmen).
Having sailed the waters around Britain, France and Spain for 30+ years I can attest to the truth of this assertion. When some braver gung ho types do venture forth, they generally have to be rescued by our wonderful lifeboats. British maritime laws allow any true Englishman (not British immigrants) to go to sea (anywhere in the world) without any licence or regulation whatever – it is our inherited common law right. I can sail in a bath tub if I wanted to. This is why we have such an efficient Royal Lifeboat Institution – they are kept very busy!
When I was lying in FBYC in Simons Town marina, https://fbyc.co.za/ the club officials demanded that I obtain an SA licence to take my yacht to sea. But I was flying my Red Duster (the merchant navy flag) and told them that my yacht was British property and they had no rights to even step aboard – I showed them the international regulations. In fact, if they did come aboard it would be deemed an invasion of sovereign property and I can call upon the Royal Navy to repel boarders! Lots of fun sailing the world!

A couple decades back on a working trip to the Welsh countryside, I ran into a couple who’d go out for a walk and get a drink before heading home. I was staying at a local inn and they found out I was an errant Yank. Curious, they struck up a conversation.

The UK, like Germany is doomed. When I say that I am referring to the lifestyle of the average person. The policies you see being put in place are designed to reduce population, industrialization, and the overall standards of living.
The globalists are realizing their agenda by successfully attacking the supply side of the economy. Their political agenda has resulted in the gas shortages which in turn will restrain industrial production and drive small business into bankruptcy. People cannot purchase what cannot be produced.
Inflation is making the people dependent upon government subsidies for their very existence. First energy, soon to be followed by housing and food. What little necessities are available, will be rationed and subsidized by government as nothing drives hyperinflation except shortages.
This pattern will be exasperated in the future as the West applies the same illogical policies you see against Russia, rolled out against China.
Having made themselves dependent upon Chinese imports, the west will impose trade restriction in response to China resisting their interference in their domestic affairs.
This is obvious to Russia and China who are now forming an Asian trading block to counter the effects on their own countries.
Europe is about to enter a new dark age, and so is the US to a lesser extent. The big difference is the US is rich in energy and natural resources, and Europe is not.
