Timeless.
As soon as you’re born, they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home, and they hit you at school
They hate you if you’re clever, and they despise a fool
Till you’re so fucking crazy, you can’t follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they’ve tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can’t really function, you’re so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you’re so clever and classless and free
But you’re still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There’s room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
Never cared for John Lennon or his wank Jap wife.
And who the fuck are you?? Have you ever accomplished a thing that justifies your existence?
You seem to be a working class hero
Say, I’ll bet you have a cat…dontcha?
I have two cats … and a fool of a Husky, so WTF. Cat-hating knucklehead.
May your house be infested with every sort of thing that flies or crawls, and the bug up your ass never be removed.
It seems I have offended you.
I have no doubt you will get over it.
Yeah, I’ll get over it …unlike you and your cat obsession.
Cats. Rent free, in your head. Your problem, not mine. My problem was simply the stupid fuckin’ comment.
Now have a nice day.
Already I am
‘I get home at five o’clock,
and I take myself out a nice, cold beer.
Always seem to be wond’rin’
why there’s nothin’ goin’ down here.’
I prefer to listen to Rush and “Working Man” much more than I did Lennon. Before anonymous excoriates my musical taste and mental abilities (I love cats and dogs btw) I owned every Beatle album and a copy of Live Peace in Toronto. Over time I’ve lost my fondness for Lennon’s commie leanings, and have come to realize he wasn’t all that.
His politics ain’t all that, but his music is great.
I think this is probably the best song Lennon ever did. It is about as true to life as you can get.
Also, Gimme Some Truth
Marx could’ve beat Lennon.
Just then the wind
Came squalling through the door
But who can
The weather command?
Just want to have
A little peace to die
And a friend or two
I love at hand
