Russian Strike Hits German Consulate In Ukraine’s Capital: “Unacceptable Escalation”

Via ZeroHedge

A German Foreign Ministry spokesman has confirmed that the building which houses a German consulate in Kyiv was hit by Russian missiles in Monday’s large-scale wave of attacks on multiple cities.

The statement noted, however, that the consulate has not been processing visas or been in operation as a result of the war, since February:

The tower which houses the visa section was “apparently damaged,” Christian Wagner told a news conference in Berlin. However, the visa section was no longer operational, so there were no employees present during the attack, he added.

Building housing the German consular office.

According to a separate regional report, “Russian airstrikes hit German embassy in Kyiv on Monday, said German media outlet Bild. However, the building was not in use since the war erupted. As per Euro News, the visa office of the German embassy received damage.”

Monday’s massive strikes which pummeled some 20 cities and towns across Ukraine, apparently in response to the major Ukrainian attack on the vital Crimean bridge from two days prior, marks the first time the Ukrainian capital was directly attacked since June.

Air raid alert sirens were active in the capital for a reported nearly six hours on Monday – the longest on memory during the war. The German consulate building getting damaged highlights the ongoing possibility other other foreign embassies getting struck in future military action.

Given the Russian military is fully aware of the locations of foreign government and embassy buildings in Ukraine, it begs the question, was this a deliberate strike and ‘message’? Certainly the Kremlin has been particularly angry over Berlin’s joining its NATO allies in sending weapons to the Ukrainian government, which constituted a huge and historic about-face (Germany has long had an official policy of neutrality, banning the shipping of its weapons to hot conflicts). A number of Western embassies have seen diplomatic staff return in limited numbers since fleeing during the opening months of the invasion, including at the American embassy.

UN Secretary General António Guterres said he’s “deeply shocked” by what marked the biggest Russian airstrikes since the invasion’s start. Additionally, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said:

“This constitutes another unacceptable escalation of the war and, as always, civilians are paying the highest price.”

US President Joe Biden also weighed in, saying in a brief statement Monday’s attacks underscore the “utter brutality” of Russia’s tactics during the war, and it will not go without “costs”.

Russia should have bombed Boris Johnson’s house while they were at it. He’s the one who carried the American message to Zelensky back in March that he was not allowed to make peace with Russia.

If they use HILTI® equipment. Have a 32 yr. old TE-10 & a 16 yr. old TE-22 hammer drill. Made there, you can’t destroy them.

Ken, I assure with utmost sincerity that I am NOT “Putin it where it counts” … who I sincerely consider a slimeball troll and a detriment to TBP.

Anyway, the real reason the Germans are pissed is because they were going to send all the combustible materials in that office back to Germany to heat their offices this winter. Now the po’ little Nazis are gonna freeze their little Wienerschnitzels off.

T4C already posted this on G&M Ridicule, but it shows that if Russia wishes to send a message, it will.

Deputy Oleg Morozov told RIA Novosti that the explosion on Russia’s Crimean Bridge was “a blatant terrorist war is being waged against us.”

“Moreover, the long-announced terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge is no longer just a challenge, it is a declaration of war without rules,” he said.

Fuck Joe Biden. Any deaths happening in this war are now totally his fault. He is the one driving this war and he deserves to be tried as a war criminal

Well, I saw an anonymous post on 4chan that said Belarus is going to pile on as soon as war is declared by Russia. This is absolutely as reliable as those old magic 8-balls from the ’80s.

The only rational things I can see that are holding Russia back are: building casus belli and needing time for mobilization and waiting for winter. The theater commander from Russia was just replaced, and it did not appear to be a case of the previous commander being fired but that a new strategy is about to be implemented.

I think this was always planned for by Russia at least at the contingency level, but since they see the need for pretext, they can’t engage in hypocrisy while calling out NATO on it. So now they call up the third string draft teams. It probably does have a lot of young Russian men freaked out since they assumed they would be the LAST to be called up.

NATO is the executive branch of whatever cabal rules this world, but we can truly only guess at who or whom is at the top. I think fleabaggs (GRHS) was on to something in this regard.
