Russia’s Grand Cathedral Dedicated to the Military

At least watch the 2 minute video; incredibly amazing architecture accompanied by hauntingly beautiful ethereal music .

A possible QOTD; are you offended or annoyed with the Russians conflating God and War? After all, if “God is love“, isn’t this cathedral an Abomination to be condemned as evil?

Well, consider this;  there isn’t a book in the OT that doesn’t have in it killings, murder, mayhem, destruction, or war. Jehovah in some places commands the murder of entire cities including women and children … and even animals!  Consider 2 Samuel 11:1; “In the spring, when kings go out to war, David sent Joab, his officers, and all the Israelites out to destroy the Ammonites.”  (Translation; “Hey, it’s springtime! Let’s kill some mofos!!”.)  And then consider what is said in Exodus 15:3 (ESV),  The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name”!

Anyway, I hope when Jesus returns that He chooses to arrive at THIS church. Glory to God, Amen.

They don’t make them like they used to,” people are known to say when visiting historic cathedrals. They should hasten to add “except in Russia.”

Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces, photo 1

The Russian Revival style of architecture, which combines historical details with modern building materials and techniques, remains popular in Russia. In fact, one of the largest and most ambitious buildings ever created in this style was opened last year.

The Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Red Army’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is what Russians call World War II. In addition to being a place of worship for practitioners of the Russian Orthodox faith, the cathedral is a monument to Russian military might, both in World War II and in all other historical conflicts where Russian armies prevailed.

It is located in a complex called Patriot Park in the Odintsovsky District, about 34 miles west of Moscow. According to the cathedral’s official website, “the church was designed in a monumental Russian style, organically incorporating modern architectural approaches and innovations unique to the Orthodox Church creations.”

At 95 meters in height and 79 meters in length, the Military Cathedral is one of the largest Orthodox churches in Russia. The Saviour-Not-Made-by-Hands icon that looks down from the central dome is the largest image of Christ’s face ever created in mosaic.

Clearly, the church was built with the intention that it would stand alongside St. Basil’s and other important Orthodox cathedrals as a significant Russian landmark. When the project was announced, in 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin said it would be “one more symbol of the indestructibility of our national traditions, of our loyalty to the memory of our forefathers and their achievements,” according to a report in the Times of London.

The modern elements of the cathedral include a façade that is totally clad in metal and enormous glazed arches that allow natural light to pour in from above. But these items are integrated into an overall aesthetic that is uncompromisingly traditional.

One thing that separates this cathedral from those of past centuries was the length of its construction. Despite the intricacy of its detailing, the cathedral was built in just 18 months. Funding for the project came from both private donations and public funds from the city of Moscow and the surrounding region of the Moscow Oblast. Overall, it is said to have cost 82 million USD.

The dimensions of the church are symbolic. The diameter of the drum of the main dome is 19.45 meters, symbolizing the final year of World War II, 1945. The belfry is 75 meters heigh, representing the 75 years that have passed between 1945 and 2020, the year of the church’s consecration. And finally, the height of the small dome is 14.18 meters, reflecting the 1,418 days and nights that the conflict lasted. The steps to the cathedral are rumored to be clad in metal sourced from melted-down Nazi tanks.

The cathedral’s combination of religious and patriotic sentiment is itself a throwback, as the great Catholic and Orthodox cathedrals of past centuries were also built to glorify the wealth and power of the state. The walls of the church are decorated with stained glass mosaics that illustrate scenes from both scripture and Russian history, including those of the Red Army’s victory over the Nazis.

One wing of the cathedral is dedicated to a museum-style exhibition that traces the history of the Russian state and its armed forces. In April 2020, two months before its consecration, the cathedral made international headlines when photos leaked of mosaics that appeared to celebrate Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea. These murals featured an image of Putin, bringing the cathedral’s celebration of Russian history right up to the present.

The Russian government at first defended these murals, which sparked outrage around the world, but later decided to remove them. According to a spokesperson from the Kremlin, it was Putin himself who recommended the removal. “Someday our thankful descendants will appreciate our merits, but it’s too early to do so now,” the Russian president is said to have remarked.

Whether or not Putin’s likeness is displayed inside the cathedral, the church embodies his vision of the Russian nation. Some may find it ironic to celebrate the Red Army in a church, given that religion was repressed during the Soviet era.

But for Putin and other leaders who position themselves as the guardians of national traditions, the accuracy of a given historical account is less important than its political utility. From the standpoint of bolstering Russian national pride, synthesizing the grand legacy of Orthodox church architecture with the military accomplishments of the Soviet Union makes perfect sense

Insanely beautiful. Love that music in the 2 min video too. That video is the antidote to tranny filth.

The beauty of the temple reflects God and his creation. The Russian history part is a corruption of God’s creation. Putin endorsing it shows he loves both God and country. The Russian mind is very complex. I read a book called Ruska recently. The book reflected the complexity of Russia, and it is a good read.

“Anyway, I hope when Jesus returns that He chooses to arrive at THIS church.

Glad to see You’re still posting. Especially when i’m feelin’…unmotivated.

IMHO? (Almost Any) ‘Church’. LEAST LIKELY PLACE ANYONE is gonna find God. As far as Jesus’ 2nd coming?

“Revelation 1:7 “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

“He cometh with clouds”: This echoes the promise of Daniel: The Son of Man will come with the clouds of heaven (Dan. 7:13), not ordinary clouds but clouds of glory. In the Old Testament, God often manifested Himself in an energized, blazing light, called the Shekinah or glory cloud. No one could see it fully and live (Exodus 33:20), so it had to be veiled. But when Christ returns, the glory will be completely visible (compare Matt. 24:29-30; 25:31; see notes on 6:12-17).

This truth is the great hope and expectation of all true believers today and it is the theme of Revelation. The death and resurrection of Christ and the promise of His second coming are the foundation of our hope. They were a great source of strength to the Early Church and are even more so to us today as we move into the final days of time before Christ’s return. This verse reveals how Jesus will return. He will come in the same manner in which He ascended into Heaven.

The interesting thing here is Jesus is coming in the clouds just as the angels said He would. In the first chapter of Acts, Jesus was caught up to heaven in the clouds and the disciples were told by the angels, that Jesus would come back the same way.

Acts 1:9-11 “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.” “And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;” “Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Some people believe Jesus’ return will be secret, I do not. How could every eye see Him, if He came back secretly? Don’t you know that there will be some grieving people, when they realize who Jesus really is?

“They [also] which pierced him”: Not a reference to the 4 Roman soldiers usually involved in crucifixion, but to the Jews who were actually responsible for Christ’s death (Acts: 2:22-23; 3:14-15). Zechariah identified the ones who pierced Him as “the house of David” and “the inhabitants of Jerusalem” and prophesied that they will weep tears of genuine repentance because of what they did to their Messiah (Zech. 12:10).

Wouldn’t you hate to be the one who spit on Him, or the one who drove the nails in His hands, or even the Scribes and Pharisees? Anyone who rejected Him will have grief beyond explanation. The grief will be so great that they will be moaning and grating their teeth.

Here John indicated (in verse 7), even if this is so, let it be. The terrible thing even worse than the first crucifixion for our sins is the terrible times when we, knowing better, crucify Him all over again. We must walk in our salvation. We must not enter back into sin after we have been freed from sin by His precious blood.

“All kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him”: The mourning of the rest of the earth’s inhabitants is not that which accompanies genuine repentance (compare 9:21). It is the result of guilt for sin and fear of punishment (6:16; compare Gen. 3:8-10).”

Even more interesting to me is the way Jesus returned to greet Saul (an unprophesied mystery – a very different way) and turn him into the apostle Paul! His next return will be just like that… a mystery. The best part; the saved will go with Him as He’ll be returning for His body before He returns in judgement!

As for the grand architecture; it is a testament to man’s creativity and spending ability, but did anyone get saved by entering in? Orthodox churchianity does not preach the gospel of Christ, it preaches religion and religion is control. Thus the grandiosity of its edifices.

Yes, Jesus as the Holy Spirit, light, met Paul and he was transformed. Remember what Paul said about a Son of God. Anyone that experiences the Holy spirit is a son of God.

Yes, when I saw that about 2 years ago for the first time on YT, I was stunned.

And I was not at all annoyed with “the Russians conflating God and War” -as I have stated here on TBP multiple times already, the best reason to fight is you have something worth defending-,
but somewhat annoyed with the Russians depicting what are clearly WW2 scenes in that Cathedral and -from all the video angles I’ve seen- brushing under the carpet that their ‘grand leader’ Stalin had incarcerated or killed scores of clerics and had demolished thousands of churches, just a few years prior.
But then I recognized one can take that as an allegory on the unfixable human imperfection, which is maybe the most important realization of all Christianity.

Hey, sometimes you gotta fight. God made us stewards of our earthly bodies.

Remember Tours, the Marian League, Lepanto, Turks at the gates of Vienna and all that?

I don’t generally care for the conflation of God and war but in this case I’d have to say they’re right. The earth has been overrun by Satanic forces and it IS that kind of battle; and Russia is one of the few standing in their way.

Jehovah is not the creator, the God that created the universes. Jehovah is in the spiritual hierarchy as ruler of earth and the lower worlds.. He has many other names, one of them is Satan, another is Kal.

There has been from the Garden of Eden forward a battle between the seed of Satan and the pure seed of our Creator God. When God gave the order to kill all the men, women, children and animals at a certain time and place it was because their genetics had been tampered with. Our DNA has God’s name embedded in it and the Satan keeps trying to destroy God’s creation by manipulating the God-given DNA in man and other created species. What has the mRNA shot done to our genetics? Is this another satanic program to change our genetic code so it no longer communicates the name of God?

Thank you Louise for responding to my invitation for comments.

You have it perfect.

Some of the peoples the children of Israel encountered after their wanderings in the desert were no longer human enough to receive salvation due to genetic manipulation. They could not be allowed to remain on the land. There would have been genetic mixing.

The Israelites did not obey the command in it’s entirety. They made a deal with some of the condemned-by-God peoples to become slaves/servants in return for their lives.

Many say we are dealing even today with the consequences of that disobedience.

Again, thanks.

Don’t be distracted by the public puppet theater. There is no “Eastern bloc nations striving against the Western-led New World Order” reality taking place here at all. It’s all kabuki theatre designed to deceive and heard the gullible masses into the Satanically inspired New World Order with as little awareness and resistance from the masses as possible. Aware or not, the masses will be dragged into this emerging hellish order that is now breathing down our collective neck. This new order, of which the BRICS nations are a part of, is controlled by the very same globalist Lucifer worshipping cabal that controls America and all of the West.

Go to any so-called Christian church on the Sunday before the myriad of military/war worship days throughout the year and see how war and the military are elevated to near divine status in this country. Russia is hardly an exception.

It is always terrible to hear people mock God’s word for ignorance. When God had the Israelites wage war, it was only to ensure the birth of the salvation of mankind. But mock if you wish, it is not for me to judge you, it is for Him.

No. The freaks and demons ruining the west are the antithesis of the original foundation of the “west.”

Putin and the rising BRICS may be the embodiment of Isiah 11:4. “But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.”

I am proud and happy about the Russians building a great church, especially when contrasted with the ZOG political and social media controlled demolition of Christianity in America. As for the military themes, the Russians combined the New Testament themes with their own history, just as Israel has with the Old Testament and its’ history. I relish the day Americans throw off our ZOG Oligarchs and build our own grand church.

One of the means God has ordained to achieve restraint is thorough the principle of just recompense

Condoning use of war found acceptable in His eyes is when He is manifesting His holy attributes of justice and righteousness

Curtailing evil deeds by man and to deter further wrongdoing is achieved through the use of corporate man as His surrogate to mete out His just recompense

82 million dollars? That’s IT? Here in Murica we spend that much on a suburban middle school, and it typically compares rather poorly in architectural detail.

Amazing architecture.

But I have a feeling, when Jesus returns, it is going to be more likely in your living room, Stucky, than in a cathedral.
