Pele died. I saw him in dozens of games when he played for the NY Cosmos. He was SPECTACULAR even past his prime. A joy to watch. A gentleman and humble at all times. There will never, ever, ever be another soccer player like he was..

Heard about Pele’s death from Andriy Martyanov tonight. I almost teared up, even though I knew little about him. I saw him once when the NY Cosmos played the MN Kicks at the old Met Stadium in Bloomington.
To paraphrase a line from the opening scene in the vintage 1979 movie “The Warriors”, magic, a whole lot of magic
mad skills and making it look so easy while faking people out of their cleats, he will be missed and remembered always, Godspeed Pele
And, if I’m not mistaken, the first pro athlete in any sport to be payed $100,000 a year.
Omg! This sportsballing monkey changed the world so many times for the better! If it wasn’t for him falling down and hurting his pony tail all over the place, our world would fallen into absolute chaos! Think of all the starving beaners that chose to watch this legend play on TV rather than providing the basic necessities for their family! How do you replace that devotion? Please tell me there is another courageous sportsballing monkey we can idolize for no apparent reason so we can remain docile little proles !
you’re obviously retarded
You are truly a motherfucking moron of epic proportions. You aren’t fit to hold Pele’s jockstrap. Go fuck yourself.
RIP Pele The King
Pele humble? Not hardly. You should see what he has said about Messi, for instance. Said that Messi has but one skill.
Also said this:
“Now everyone is talking about Messi, he is a star. But for Messi to be the best ever, he must first become better than Neymar.” “ But Messi is an incomplete player”, etc etc.
Humble? Please. He had zero humility and went out of his way to belittle Messi and others, instead of cheering their skills and success. Messi is the best to ever play the game, and Pele couldn’t stand that he had been ursurped at the top. Compare that to what Jack Nicklaus says about Woods, to see what a true sportsman says and how he behaves.
Pele was a tremendous player. Was best ever – for quite a long time. But humble and gentlemanly he was not.
Would rather watch a good game of college basketball.
Speaking of the best ever, is Llpoh still with us? Did I miss something?
