Trying Times

Great expectations fall short of realty and America is no longer whole.
And these days, these end-times days do assuredly try men’s souls.
Thomas Paine spoke of freedom and glorious triumph over tyranny.
But it is not the soul of men that speaks to me, only the national irony.

Protect and defend the spirit of liberty while evil languishes in our bones.
This is not our finest hour; oppression bows while smiling on its lavish throne.
We are striving to save the soul of a nation, to preserve its godly charter;
We come together to voice our mind, our patriotic duty, we vote harder.

We swore an oath to support and defend this covenant from all enemies.
We swore to bear true faith and allegiance and any deviance has penalties.
We the people, living in this union, have trampled, desecrated the promise;
We have lost the security of blest liberty for our posterity; the guilt is on us.

Great expectations, great failures, dark shadows on the ground and the wall;
Cry out and condemn us, the generation that let it slip away, let old glory fall.
History will speak poorly of us, the last generation of patriots, truly free;
We took freedom and liberty too lightly, too quietly, from sea to shining sea.

~ From Dickens’s “Great Expectations”

No, not from Dicken’s “Great Expectations,” just the phrase “great expectations.” I took the negative of Churchill with “This is not our finest hour.” I thought about Dicken’s “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…”, but all I could use was a take on was “it was the season of darkness” (dark shadows). It is the worst of times and their appears to be no hope on the horizon. I also took from my oath of allegiance to protect and defend the constitution, but we as a nation have failed miserably to defend liberty and freedom from tyranny and corruption from enemies within. As the last of the greatest generation dies, I believe we are seeing our constitutional republic die as well. The corruption, depravity, rot and decay, the tyrannical infection is too deep. The cancer of the global cabal has metastasized.

As to “let anyone do anything he pleases, so long as it is peaceful,” we can not coexist. Give them an inch and they take everything. They creep in until they no longer need to creep, and then they get in your face and flaunt their depravity and corruption. It’s their way of saying, “So what are you going to do about it anyway? Nothing, that’s what I thought.”

“MY THESIS, in simplest terms, is: Let anyone do anything he pleases, so long as it is peaceful; the role of government, then, is to keep the peace…Keeping the peace means no more than prohibiting persons from unpeaceful actions…When government goes beyond this, that is, when government prohibits peaceful actions, such prohibitions themselves are, prima facie, unpeaceful.” ― Leonard E. Read, Anything That’s Peaceful
