During my time in service I only came across one no-nonsense flag officer. He saw it as his job to shield those he led from politics by taking on the political hazard himself…all others would just cow-tow to political correctness, much to the detriment of the mission, morale, and men.
I won’t share his name, but as the JSOC commander he came to Bagram and gave us a ‘Patton speech’ in front of a giant American flag in the supply warehouse. In it he actually criticized Obama for lying about “boots on the ground” in Iraq as a certain special mission unit had been conducting operations there for some time already–with presidential approval.
patton was murdered by eisenhower, roosevelt, wild bill donovan and host of other spooks. i forgot the name of the shit who did the deed.
