Sea Level Check – Oslo, Norway
There is a town in England that was on the seaside in Roman times. Now it is a couple of miles from the coast. Why? The land is/was slowly rebounding from the weight of the mile high glaciers that disappeared at the end of the last ice age. Uppsala in Sweden is far inland from where it was back then. Oslo was possibly under water. So I have read.
As an addendum, during the last ice age sea levels were 230 or more feet lower than now. The glaciers melted and receded quickly, long before humans were burning gigatons of fossil fuels. What happened is still under discussion. Change in solar output, change in the earth’s orbit or tilt are likely suspects.
