A Burning Platform?
Does anyone have any experience with those materials? Is the burnt material more or less poisonous than the gas?
With just my general chemistry knowledge, I would guess the burned material will be far less acutely toxic, which means it would just cause shortened lifespan and poor health instead of killing people in minutes like the raw stuff could.
I don’t know what the explosives comment was about (link above), but explosives would make either outcome worse. I like the analogy of how this dumbass Staff Sergeant put a bunch of grenades in the trunk of a car and tried to blow it up with C4 which sent live (potentially unstable) grenades flying everywhere that had to be bulldozed by engineers.
The only thing I saw about ‘explosion’ is a sped up video.
Someone talked of one of the resulting chemicals being phosgene gas … it was used originally by the French in WW1 … sometimes combined with chlorine gas to help the spreading.
It’s a deadly chemical warfare weapon …

It’s only 2 out of 4 toxicity, which is bad, but not awful. The phosgene, on the other hand, is lethal. It was the WWI gas which made lungs boil and suffocated the men to death on their own blood.

The South is not the heartland. Not even close. Neither are the lands along the Ohio. Some of the least productive land in the country because the soil is substandard. Plus, once the water enters the river, it doesn’t leave. But then I doubt you have enough functioning brain cells to understand how gravity functions.
I am 33 miles away from the disaster (as the crow flies). The wind carried it into Pennsylvania away from me. Even here, it has had very little in the way of news reporting. Many people I’ve come across are not even aware of what has happened.
