Congresscritters are no less susceptible to being conned, hoaxed, bamboozled, and punked than the average ‘Murikan normie NPC. Some may know what’s really up, the rest believe what they’re told and fall in line.
After ridiculing anyone who believed in UFOs since before I was born, they now shift to “UFOs are real and we can’t rule out extraterrestrial origin” and expect everyone to believe them.
Most people will believe anything that comes out of their TV.

Alternatively, either China or Russia have the U.S. badly beat on drone tech; in which case, how did anyone take barroons!! seriously?
It seems to me one could worry about the low-tech threat while dismissing the advanced tech that China & Russia already have in space, as well as their hum-int on the ground in America; OR worry about those countries’ supersonic, propulsionless, jamming-tech-laden drones. If someone worries about both simultaneously, they need professional help.
