Which States Allow The Permitless Carry Of Guns?

Via ZeroHedge

In July, Florida will become the 26th state in the U.S. that isn’t requiring a permit to carry a concealed gun in public.

As Statista’s Katharina Buchholz reports, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation last week finalizing the change. In recent years, more and more states have enacted similar legislation, but the case of Florida is significant as it still outlaws the open carry of guns – typically only common in a few states that have very strict gun legislation.

All other 25 states that allow permitless concealed carry also allow permitless open carry. Alabama was the latest to implement no carry permits at all on Jan. 1, 2023, preceded by Indiana, Georgia and Ohio in 2022 and Utah, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas in 2021. The change in Indiana made headlines as it occurred just two weeks before a deadly mass shooting at a mall in an Indianapolis suburb, where a gunman killed three and wounded two more before being shot dead by a bystander who also carried a gun.

For many decades, Vermont was the only state with these types of laws, which is why the practice is sometimes also referred to as “Vermont carry”. In 2011, Wyoming was the first state to enact or re-introduce similar laws.

Throughout the U.S., there are eight states requiring permits for open and concealed carry. Another three (plus Washington D.C.) require permits for concealed carry and prohibit the open carry of most guns. 13 states allow the open carry of guns without a permit while requiring one for concealed carry (no states do it the other way around).

Open carry in Oklahoma, and I do…….fwiw, most of the idiots out there seem to take a person a little more seriously when one is carrying……I just smile a lot and try to be the nicest guy in the world……..
It’s disgusting we have states that refuse the Constitution, this patchwork of “statutes”are repugnant to the spirit AND the letter of the law!UNIVERSAL RECIPROCITY,is what the document indicates as a natural function of the Constitution!

And yet you don’t seem to see any news articles on all these shootings that occur in those states. The media and liberal whackos seem to think that open carry will turn into the wild west, yet it is the complete opposite. In states that do have gun freedom, if a lunatic goes on a shooting spree it is usually a gun free zone such as a bank or school. It simply proves that wherever there are guns allowed there is almost a zero chance there will be any kind of shooting. Even as dumb as the criminal element can be, even they aren’t dumb enough to engage in a place where others are carrying, especially if their goal is to kill as many as they can. It doesn’t take a genious to put it all together.

“The media and liberal whackos seem to think that open carry will turn into the wild west,…”

It will…eventually. It is inevitable. But not because of any legislation.

We’re entering a time when morality ain’t gonna buy you much.

The “good guys” with guns don’t go out shooting each others. The criminals that aren’t allowed to legally own guns are the ones looking to do harm.

In a world of lies, how you gonna know “the good guy” from the “bad guy” before it’s too late?

Decisions will be made at or above the speed of sound in the days coming.

a deadly mass shooting at a mall in an Indianapolis suburb, where a gunman killed three and wounded two

In other news, a deadly vehicle accident in which a car was involved in a mass killing. Three people were killed and three were seriously injured. We need to restrict the public from being able to own vehicles or at the very least require registration of all personal vehicle ownership. If we can just save one life.

oh wait…

Going forward:
All highway accidents with more than three deaths will be called “Mass Deathing” events, and all vehicles involved will be referred to as “Full Semi-Automatic Assault Vehicles”.

They never will and the reason is nothing more complicated than physical proximity to DC. The entire city is militarized by plain cloths operatives. They live in terror of being exposed and removed. you really think they’ll ever allow their neighbors to become MORE of a threat to them?

There’s still time to relocate, but the window is closing…noticeably.

Since background checks are de facto registration, which states allow purchase of a firearm without a background check? That seems important. Also, which states allow cash purchases of ammunition without ID?

You have to fill out a 4473 since that’s from the GCA of ’68 in every state. Places like Illinois have a state ID you have to have, the FOID or Firearm Owner ID card. Realistically I think the state ID’s are just another tax scheme. As for ammo I am fairly certain that is a state by state thing. You would have to have an ID to prove you are of legal age most anywhere. YMMV.
