New York State to Ban Gas Stoves

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

New York approved a $229 billion budget plan laced with restrictions. New buildings under seven stories will be prohibited from using gas stoves by 2026, and taller buildings will face the same ban in 2029. There will be some exceptions for places like hospitals and restaurants, but newly constructed buildings will be forced to use electric.

This is the first ban of its kind at the state level. Berkeley, California, was the first US city to ban gas cooking in 2019. Other blue cities have followed suit and this will be the first of many restrictions they place on the people to combat naturally occurring climate change.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer told the public in February 2023 that the idea of a ban on gas stoves was nothing more than a MAGA conspiracy theory. “At first you have to laugh at the ‘gas stove ban’ narrative being cooked up by the MAGA GOP,” Schumer stated. The Energy Department and the commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission also denied the claims. Similar to Obama’s claim that you could keep your doctor, Democrats are claiming that you can keep your stove and this will only apply to new construction.

Ted Cruz and Joe Manchin attempted to pass the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act. “The federal government has no business telling American families how to cook their dinner,” Manchin said. “The last thing that would ever leave our house is the gas stove we cook on, and I will continue to fight any overreach by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”

All of these small sacrifices will add up. They’re slowly implementing one restriction after the next so the public does not see what is happening.

The delusion of windmill farms and solar panel farms as the solution to all power?
“More wind farms and solar are inevitable. But without battery storage, neither is reliable.
Natural gas, coal, and nuclear plants are not meant to be turned on and off at the whim of clouds, wind, cold fronts, and heat waves.”

You think that’s a failure. No, it’s the plan.

He says that as if the only drawback is lack of battery storage (or that sufficient batteries would mitigate any drawbacks).

What batteries? From where?

Point is: WITH sufficient battery storage, neither is economically comparable to either fossil fuels or nuclear. Neither is sustainable economically or environmentally. Not because of a lack of batteries but BECAUSE of the need for batteries and all of the materials necessary for those batteries {which will soon all be sucked up by TPTB’s insistence on EVs}.

It’s not like, “oh, they’d be great if we just had enough battery storage capacity”. They suck in part because they need such capacity.

They just suck. In all ways.

And as falconflight points out … that’s the plan.

I’d imagine it is difficult to install at scale, reliable, remote turn-off, smart meters on natural gas service, thus the creeping bans. Anyone know if that that assessment correct?

Whereas, the already common smart metered electric service can be rationed for an anemic “green” grid and remotely turned off by TPTB if you get uppity or… your banking history/social credits indicates that you are boycotting the wrong thing. It is called turn-key tyranny and it will wear your family down.

If our masters actually cared about humanity/planet, they would be licensing state-of-the-art nuclear plants by the hundreds with funds going to improving designs and eventual decommissioning. Dark-age feudalism has no interest in technical proficiency or a capable citizenry. Appointing a luggage-stealing freak to rub DoE incompetence in our faces, yes.

I can only assume regulations on all kinds of things will get worse. I’m working towards moving to Arkansas. Hopefully I’ll die working out in the shop or something. A long way from all of the dumbshit.

Far North Arkansas? We almost moved to Harrison. Big plus…a certain demographic is quite small and if the history is true, a pogram ran out that certain demographic many decades ago.

It’s becoming pretty obvious that they’re intentionally trying to overload the electric grid while avoiding responsibility for it.

They’ll blame it all on the evil electric companies. You know. The people who daily provide you with critical infrastructure and service.

The people doing it never worked a day in their lives.

This is what it’s come to.

I drove over the Gov. Cuomo Bridge last weekend. Until then, I had no idea he had a bridge named after him. Only in NY do you get that honor for killing a few dozen thousand useless elderly eaters in nursing homes.

I’ll jump in here because you mentioned how recent this new “thing” is. You said “all in 3 months.”

Three months is more run-up time than I remember. I can’t recall hearing about the banning of gas stoves more than a month or six weeks ago.

Also, for most of my life the mention of natural gas came with “clean, efficient, plentiful.”

What happened?

So when the electric grid goes down due to storms, hackers, attacks ect you can’t cook. People starve. By what authority do these people have the right to tell you what appliances you are allowed to have? Why do humans not resist? Flipping morons.
