The Soviet Union suffered the most because Stalin, and many of his generals, were incompetent. The most famous Soviet general, Zhukov, won battles by allowing his own soldiers to be butchered by the Germans. Zhukov was no better than a typical mediocre German general. He even botched his attack across the Oder at the beginning of the Battle for Berlin. He enjoyed 5 to 1, or greater, superiority in infantry, tanks, airplanes, and artillery, and he still got bogged down for, I believe, two days. He should have been able to steamroll the defending German army.

Read the book “Stalin’s War” by Sean McMeekin and you will realize that it was American military equipment and supplies that made it possible for the Russians to survive the war. It was American workers and businessmen who made winning the war possible for the Allies.

He was assassinated for that sentiment. He fully understood communism.

The most brutal winter in 80 years helped the Russians stymie the German invasion.
Hitler terrorizing all the Jewish scientists ( you know, the ones that developed the Atomic bomb) causing them to come to the states was also a gigantic fuck up. I noticed France is not on the graphs. LOL !

I did not see anything about Russia landing on the beaches during D DAY. I do not recall them fighting in the pacific.

Actually it was agreed at the Yalta conference that the Soviet Union would declare war on Japan within 90 days of Germany being defeated. At that time the US wasn’t sure the nuclear bomb would be ready and they wanted help with Japan. Stalin waited till the 90th day to declare war. After Japan surrendered Stalin kept taking territory occupied by Japan. The US had to tell him to stop.

Yup, very few people understand history except for the propaganda they see in movies. Russians got killed by the legion and paid the real price for the eastern front. Maybe they too understand forth turnings

There were many D Day’s in the USSR, not just one and those were but a skirmish on the east front. D Day paled in comparison to Stalingrad (lasted 5 months), Kursk, Kiev, Kharkov, etc. France isn’t even as big as Texas. On the Ostfront the front line went from the Bearing Sea to the Black Sea (actually even beyond). Total American casualties during the entire war in both the Pacific and European theatres was around 450,000. The soviets lost over 25 million. The Germans lost at least 8 million.

It’s not apples-to-apples, since many Russian civilians died due to being besieged, but for context, roughly fifty times as many Soviet citizens as Americans died during The Great Patriotic War.

There are US citizens who honestly believe that Pearl Harbor was “unprovoked” and that FDR had “no idea” that the attack was coming. Indeed, propaganda wins every time, and having government control over the “education” of 90+% of the population certainly makes it easier.
