I’m entering my 6th decade today. Let’s hope I’m able to exit it in ten years, still able to blog and live in a free country. I’d rather not spend my waning years in a government gulag, or incinerated because Dementia Joe decided he could win a war against Russia and China.
Avalon had this roll of TP in our hotel bathroom in Wildwood this weekend.
After a nice Mother’s Day/Birthday dinner at the Anglesea Pub, we drove over to the back bay to watch a beautiful chemtrail enhanced sunset. Certainly not symbolic of the sun setting on my youth.
I woke up at 5:30 this morning to watch the 5:45 sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean from our balcony. It was spectacular, as usual. Even though I’m turning 60, there is much to be done to try and direct this Fourth Turning to a positive outcome. My 40’s weren’t so good. My 50’s were better. We’ll see what my 60’s entail. At least I didn’t reduce my life expectancy by getting the jab.
I’ve been extremely fortunate to have found someone to spend 32 of my 60 years with. Hopefully, we’ll have many more years to spend watching sunrises and sunsets.

Happy Birthday, Jim! 60 is the new…40 something! hehe.
Beautiful wife with toilet paper humor.
You are blessed!
I was thinking the same. Jim, married way above his class level.
How did he entice the poor gal?
Happy B’day Jim
Happy Birthday!! Stay in shape. The 60’s is a change decade.
…And of course, Happy Birthday! 🎂
Many more to come, enjoy, and thank you both for everything.
Happy birthday, young whippersnapper.
Did you know Dylan was actually a Loo ?…. BL let me in on the secret…reeeeee
My 40’s were great because I made time to go to Blues festivals and travel. 50’s sucked because of PTSD from life. 60’s have been much better.
Mine got a lot better when I retired from the corporate rat race at 62.
“50’s sucked because of PTSD from life.”
Yeah, I know that feeling. 60’s have been a little better.
Still in my mid 50’s …. going through the “PTSD from life.” …. Thinking that part of the PTSD is because you get to that point of ‘wisdom’ from life experience and lessons learned that you actually recognize ALL of the bullshit swirling around … but due to financial commitments, kids in college, etc. … you still have to put up with it to some degree (without selling your self out, of course … there are certain lines that will NEVER be crossed no matter what!! (like the ‘mandatory’ vax BS as a case in point)) for just a few more years …
The end of the strain is in sight, but the stakes are still high for a few more years … and then you can take the foot off of the gas …
A GIANT Happy Birthday and best wishes for the days coming.
We used tosing the Happy Birthday song at everyones birthdays an in our house its a ficture now.
Sung like a dirge
Happy birthday day
Happy birthday day
Pain and sorrow in the air
People dying everywhere
But happy birthday
Happy birthday
Doesn’t seem much like a funny dirge birthday song anymore tho. sigh.
Shit, You’re looking good for sixty. Happy Birthday and may you experiance many more sunrises.
Joined the club a couple of years back. Need to quit smoking in the evenings. 4 or 5 cigs have been the norm for 15 years.
Many blessings!
I recently picked up my 5-handle. It came with the “Get off my lawn” sign. Been waiting 30 years to age into my contrarian nature. Some of us were always old souls. Just took the knees a while to catch up.
One of the things about the Turning for me is just how our place in the timeline is so marked by the great migration into the digital world.
While it happened on our watch, our formative years were prehistoric. We adopted a lot of the tools of progress alongside the younger cohorts but there was always a natural buffer.
Then one day you realize your best anecdotes are all in analog.
With this dark miasma of transhumanism and perpetual year zero of progress hanging over us all it seems to me there is a great strength, in those of us who were so imprinted in the physical world, waiting to be untapped. The power of meekness comes to mind.
I’m not usually prone to the self-importance of modernity, but in this case, I indulge my belief that we straddle the two diverging worlds for a reason.
The purpose will be revealed to each of us in different ways, perhaps as a function of where we reside along that span, but for those who choose to answer the nagging questions of that revelation, we will know that power and bring it to bear where it is most needed.
So far, it seems for me to be in the smallness of life. The retrenching toward those lost connections to the physical world of my youth. Preparing spirit and land alike. Individual families. Proximity. Activity broken by stillness that has been banished from the narrow bandwidth of high-modernity.
We may not live to see it all coalesce, but such is the nature of our turn. Stay limber. Stay lean. Stay strong.
Cheers to sexagenarian.
Happy Birthday!
60? I got socks older than you.
Pretty gal.
Happy birthday, Jim. Have a wonderful day.
That explains a lot.
Happy Birthday and may God continue to smile down upon you as you make your way into the back 40 of life.
You’re actually entering your 7th decade if my fingers are correct… 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 50-60,
Your second through sixth decade each contain 11 years. Should be 11-20, 21-30, 31-40 etc. Measure twice cut once…..
No, you get 9 years younger with each decade. 61-70=(-9)
Surely you jest?
He’s serious, and don’t call him Shirley.
Stop trans-hatin’
Count on your fingers, 1-10 will get you to ten!
So 60 is not so much a mile post as a fence post?
Oh, to be sixty again. Sigh…
P.S. You ARE both looking great.
7th decade. When you were 10 you were entering your 2nd decade, etc
Exactly. Same thing with New Year’s Eve and decades, centuries, millennia, etc.
One’s 1st birthday marks the END of one’s 1st year on Earth. One’s 10th birthday marks the END of one’s 1st decade. One’s 60th birthday marks the END of six decades. The next day is the beginning of one’s 7th decade.
TBP Admin is a fucking accountant who doesn’t even understand counting . . . R.I.P. America.
/ J K !
Happy birthday to our fearlessly free-speech proprietor of the blog, and hubba hubba to that righteous old lady, who loved you when you had nothing (except a waistline)! May ye live as long as ye want, lad, and never want as long as ye shall live.
Maff is hard.
Happy Birthday youngster! You are actually in the final year of your sixth decade. Next year you enter your seventh.
Embrace the slogan “Old age and treachery shall overcome youth and skill.” May the Good Lord bless you and yours and may you increase in health and wisdom!
Happy Birthday! You are not a “TBP Geezer” YET! So there’s that.
Wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and many, many more!!
Happy Birthday, you young whippersnapper!! 60 ain’t shit to a real old guy like me!! LOL!!
As a kid I remember John Wayne always saying in interviews “Well, when I was 55 I could…” Sadly, many of us know exactly what he was talking about.
OH good grief, a young guy with a beautiful (also young) wife complaining about getting old, no you get no sympathy from me, I turn 79 in just a few months and I think I’m getting to the point where I officially qualify as being old.
Anyway Happy Birthday young guy and count your blessings.
Lol, Avalon! I always tell my husband when he makes fun of me that I will get him back when he least expects it. Happy Birthday, Jim!
Happy Birthday!
The down side of getting old is well…….,getting old!
The upsides are people expect you to be cranky/the threat of life in prison loses it’s effectiveness/and as the below picture shows folks are not surprised/angry when you do silly/stupid shit!
Happy birthday, you old phart.
Happy uterine eviction day duder.
ZFG, out.
P.S. enjoy the day.
I remember you lamenting turning 50. Seems like yesterday.
Happy birthday!
Many happy returns of the lamentation, bruh.
Happy birthday, and may you live in interesting times!
You are an inspiration to many of us, keep it up. And there is Viagra, which you may need in 10 years or so…..
“And there is Viagra, “?!,……
Eh,did ya’s see pic of wifey?!
I do not personally see need for the little blue pill viagra or it’s generic multi colored variant now or in future……,just saying!
Happy Birthday #60, JQ! Standing the test of Time like a young, solid Oak.
Just watch ol’ Quinn go soft in his old age like everyone else and prohibit free speech.
Ya can’t trust anyone over 60.
P.S.: Luckily, Musk will save us.
Happy Birthday Jim! Your birthday is on the 14th? We share the same birthday… certainly explains a lot.
15th
I’ll be 32 tomorrow.
We all have socks older than you HingZ, have a great day!
I keep meaning to throw those out “BUT you never know when ……..”
Thanks BL!
I hope you have a wonderful b-day Jim. I am impressed with you.
You are a blessed man. Focus on the important things like you wrote about a few essays back. All the other stuff is vapor.
Happy Birthday, Jim!
I’m not far behind, towards celebrating my 60th…
Happy Birthday Jim.
I turn 60 later this year also. You and I can retire in 7 more fucking years or at a reduction of 30% 62 is the magic number.
Enjoy the day!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday, ya whippersnapper.
Happy Birthday!
Welcome to the club!
And a fellow Taurus to boot.
Welcome to the club.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Jim – may you have many more, prosper and have an enjoyable retirement. You have created an amazing family of true patriots who I know will be rooting for you all the way. Here’s a birthday gift: https://americasbestpics.com/picture/daily-mail-more-stories-a-new-drug-trycoxagain-has-been-hu8zv7QZ9 (It probably came from you in the first place!)
As a guide to a possible future – from me: I am 78 and have never felt so healthy & content, fulfilled, and excited about my next 25 years in Simons Town (we leave next year for yet another adventure!) I ‘retired’ from traditional business in 1995 but have never ‘worked’ so hard – actually it’s fun and games – chasing down the evil ones and documenting their crimes (much being down to your extensive support). 🙂
Like you, I am engaged 24/7/365 and wouldn’t have it any other way. Her indoors thinks I’m potty but puts up with me, if nothing else, for a quiet life. Go forth to battle my good fellow traveller.
Blessings
AP
Happy Birthday Admin! Keep up the great work on TBP. I find I appreciate life a lot more in my sixties than I did in my early years.
Holy smoke! She’s young & beautiful. Something’s not adding up here. Color me confused.
I had a PCP on the Oregon Coast about 11 or 12 years ago … he was practicing in the local clinic in Manzanita — he was 72 or 73 years old.
I asked him why he was still practicing … he said he had 2 reasons: he loved what he was doing (granted, he was the best doctor I’ve seen in decades) and he had to provide child support payments to his former wife (she was very young and very beautiful) for their 10-year old son …
Some guys have all the luck …
Happy Birthday!
Babble- Who DV’s a birthday wish?
Ya see Bab, just like old Bea told you, old age creeps up on ya. Don’t be hatin’ on geezers, soon U R one.
Happy birthday and glad to see you are getting some well-deserved r & r. For your strolls along the boardwalk, I believe this one is rated 4.5 / 5 stars?
😉
Happy Birthday JQ! Hope it’s a great one!
By the way, you do realize you’re not “in your 60’s” yet; in all actuality, you are still in your fifties, since we start counting from 1, not 0. Just throwing that out there…
(And it looks like we have a bunch of May babies here! Happy birthday to all of you as well — mine’s on the 26th!)
“since we start counting from 1, not 0.”
Nope, not entertaining that nonsense/I and Jim and many others are 60!
And no,60 is not the new 40/60 is 60!
Happy Birthday from another generation “Jones”‘er
Have a couple of cold ones on the house!
Happy B-Day!
“Have a couple of cold ones on the house!”
Eh…..,Ed,were do you live…?!
With the beautiful wife he’s got — why in Heaven’s name would he need any ‘cold ones’?
Happy Birthday, Admin. Many more.
Not a bad looking 60. Happy birthday Jim.
Now That’s a feel good story!!!
May your 60s be filled with never ending conquests.
