The religion of the ancient Israelites ended with the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Christianity (Catholicism) is the fulfillment of the ancient Israelite religion, and has superseded it. It had already been subject to a fair amount of corruption, but was the True Faith at that time. You will note the Christ Himself pointed out these corruptions continually during His ministry.
The current Judaism uses the Babylonian Talmud and not the Old Testament. Further, they do not have Temple, Sacrifice, nor Priesthood. The religion was destroyed and discredited after the destruction of the Temple. What arose to replace it was basically a debating society based upon the unbiblical practices of the Pharisees, promoted and spread through schools and debate centers called synagogues.
All of the Jews who accepted the Messiah at the time became what are now known as Catholics. Those who did not accept the Messiah were henceforth known as Jews.
Modern Judaism is a younger religion than Christianity, by about 300 years or so, more or less. That was about how long it took them to “codify” and write the Talmud, organize the synagogues, and develop new “rituals” like you see at seders, bris’, and other ceremonies…including the Kaballah, and other practices.
Today, the True Faith is the Catholic Faith. We have often suffered trials and corruption with a variety of heresies, schisms, and persecutions. Currently, the dead branches of Protestantism are falling away, and there is a lot of dead wood within the Church Herself. But it was always like this. The Old Testament is nothing if not a long tale of the ancient Israelites being faithful, falling away, being chastised, coming back to faith, and doing this over and over and over.
