It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Please consider contributing an amount commensurate to the value that you receive from this site and community, or even by becoming a sustaining supporter through periodic contributions. I had the exact Sony stereo in the early 80s. Sort of wish I would have kept it
Dial radio can fine tune into a station like no digital can.
PLL or drift.
The rubber belts and pinch rollers on the tapedeck disolved into goo in the 00s.
Same for the record player, if belt drive.
The rolled edges on the speaker cones? also, disolved in the 00s.
I had a crazy car. Lots of fun. Others had the Big Wheel, but this thing exercised the arms like crazy.
A few years ago I found a crazy car someone was throwing out. I brought it home and my kids used it for years, then we gave it to one of the neighbors. I think it’s still getting passed on to others as their kids outgrow them.
Do we miss the convenience? I tried to find an intact one for my house and a soap dispenser that looked like a wall-mounted clear glass light bulb. Sadly, long gone now, unless you like plastic crap.

Oddly the White fountain is shiny steel and the colored fountain is white
Did Neil Armslong take this photo?
No, this picture of Gemini 6 it was taken by Wally Schirra from Gemini 7.
Points for Neil Arms-long
Nope, Kubrick’s cameraman.
My mechanical engineer uncle (RIP) worked on Gemini as a contractor with Fairchild-Hiller.
Hai Karate commercial….
Pic 18, The Don as a hood.
always liked How Long by Ace, but,
Anybody else like this one from that list?
Of course and actually, Ace was really just Paul Carrack and band. Paul did vocals for several bands. My favorite by him was Tempted, he did with the band Squeeze.
Oh my gosh I haven’t thought of this one since the 70s. I always liked it but I never picked up a 45 while it was in the rack. Thanks!
Where the niggers at? There was only one nigger in all those pictures. Wasn’t it great in the old days.
That’s back when the ratio actually was 13%
Went out to eat in the St. Louis area yesterday. 54 th Anniversary. Not a nigger in sight. Will not disclose the location.
Wow, no photos? That should make the National Enquirer.
My dad worked for Railway Express Agency (REA) for decades until they went belly up. As a kid I would help unload railcars and ride along with some of the drivers. Indeed they were the “Good Old Days” !
One day 20 years from now the half billion humans who were allowed to live will sit in front of their holograms eating bugs and thinking 2023 was the good old days. Then the AI robots will descend on them to punish them for wrong thought.
Nobody does the Iranian national anthem like these guys:
A good few things I could respond to, but I’ll just sum it up. Susanna Hoffs. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
