The stranger thing was the pullet standing on top of the snake coiled around the dead pullet. Later revealed it waaar a cock. I ran to get my ax, and well, I wasn’t all that good of a shot. I did get the snake, but damaged the frame of the coop. We have two coops inside of a steel dog kennel with hard cloth round the lower part of the kennel and a welded wire on top with a tarp. Those snakes still get in without much trouble.
