Your Kid’s School Went ‘Woke’? Consider Homeschool.

Guest Post by Ron Paul

“Woke” culture has become so prominent in the American education system that it would not be surprising to learn that schools were replacing the once popular rhyme “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” with “sticks and stones may break my bones but opinions I disagree with can make me feel unsafe so they must be silenced.”

Take the case of 12-year-old Liam Morrison, a student at Nichols Middle School in Middleborough, Massachusetts. This March, Liam was told to change his shirt or be sent home. School staff are reported to have said his shirt targeted a “protected class.” Liam says he was told his shirt was making some students feel unsafe. Did Liam’s shirt advocate violence? No, Liam’s shirt simply stated that there are only two genders.

A free society cannot exist where a substantial portion of its population demands and receives protection from exposure to opposing ideas. If the history of authoritarianism teaches us anything it is that those in positions of power are often willing to provide a frightened people with “security” as long as the people are willing to sacrifice their and their fellow citizens’ liberty.

Fighting the woke agenda is therefore not, as some libertarians claim, a culture war distraction from the pursuit of liberty; instead, fighting the woke agenda is crucial to restoring a free society. Of course, this means working to roll back government power by, for example, shutting down the unconstitutional Department of Education and getting Congress to pass legislation forbidding government officials from telling social media companies to censor certain American citizens. We must also resist joining those misguided conservatives who are calling on the right to seek to use government power to impose a right-wing version of wokeness on the American people.

The backlash against wokeness in schools is leading more parents to either become involved in their local school boards or to look for alternatives such as homeschooling. Parents who are interested in a homeschooling program that provides children with a well-rounded education that will help their child awake but not become “woke” should consider my homeschool curriculum.

The Ron Paul Curriculum provides students with a well-rounded education that includes rigorous programs in history, mathematics, and the physical and natural sciences. The curriculum also provides instruction in personal finance. Students can develop superior written and oral communication skills via intensive writing and public speaking courses. Another feature of my curriculum is that it provides students the opportunity to create and run their own Internet businesses.

The government and history sections of the curriculum emphasize Austrian economics, libertarian political theory, and the history of liberty. However, unlike government schools, my curriculum never puts ideological indoctrination ahead of education. Interactive forums allow students to engage with and learn from each other. The forums ensure students are actively engaged in their education as well as give them an opportunity to interact with their peers outside of a formal setting.

I encourage all parents looking at alternatives to government schools —alternatives that provide children with a well-rounded education that will allow them to learn about the history and ideas of liberty instead of pushing on them “wokeness” and the lies of the cultural Marxists — to go to RonPaulCurriculum.com for more information about my homeschooling program.

OH! Believe ME when I tell you that I can make a very compelling argument against home schooling!

You got a world full of woke morons breeding with other morons and birthing super morons.

Son. When the blind lead the blind, all fall in the ditch.

This should not come as news to anyone.

Did I just do another racism?

Went woke? The entire purpose of government monopoly schools was to destroy the mindset and religion of all the Catholic immigrants from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, and to create a mechanism for permanent state propaganda. Watch the videos of John Taylor Gatto. He details the true history of the “public schooling” movement. How ANY so-called Conservative can support the continuance of government monopoly schools is a mystery to me. But then most haven’t figured out yet that war is the biggest, most wasteful and destructive government program there ever has been.

The Psychopathology of Everyday Schooling

EXCERPT:
Chapter 15 of The Underground History of American Public Education (by John Taylor Gatto)

In 1909 a factory inspector did an informal survey of 500 working children in 20 factories. She found that 412 of them would rather work in the terrible conditions of the factories than return to school. ~ Helen Todd, “Why Children Work,” McClure’s Magazine (April 1913)

In one experiment in Milwaukee, for example, 8,000 youth…were asked if they would return full-time to school if they were paid about the same wages as they earned at work; only 16 said they would. ~ David Tyack, Managers of Virtue (1982)

An Arena Of Dishonesty

I remember clearly the last school where I worked, on the wealthy Upper West Side of Manhattan. An attractive atmosphere of good-natured dishonesty was the lingua franca of corridor and classroom, a grace caused oddly enough by the school’s unwritten policy of cutting unruly children all the slack they could use.

Student terrorists, muggers, sexual predators, and thieves, including two of my own pupils who had just robbed a neighborhood grocery of $300 and had been apprehended coming back to class, were regularly returned to their lessons after a brief lecture from the principal. All received the same mercy. There was no such thing as being held to account at my school. This behavioral strategy — leveling good, bad, ugly into one undifferentiated lumpenproletariat1 — may seem odd or morally repugnant in conventional terms, but it constituted masterful psychological management from the perspective of enlightened pedagogy. What this policy served and served well was to prioritize order and harmony above justice or academic development.

well, to be fair, the idea of mandatory government schooling started with frederick ‘the great’ of brandenburg/prussia, who became ‘the great’ mainly through his great success in marshalling the full energies of his entire nation to feed and run an army bigger and more disciplined than any other around him.. and a big part of that was mass-production of indoctrinated youths.

Yes, but you won’t. Just keeping them home and singing the alphabet with them is good. Then, they eat real food and aren’t around less-fortunate kids who are being polluted.

A homeschooling post and Abigail has not weighed in?

I hate to mention this, but she hasn’t commented since July 17th, and then I read this story about Yellowstone, which was her favorite park, and she was travelling back from Canada via Montana…

And then I think about how she refuses to back down from a fight…

The woman’s body was found on Saturday morning. Abigail’s last comment was previous to that.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jul/24/woman-found-dead-after-apparent-grizzly-bear-attack-near-yellowstone-national-park

A woman has been found dead in Montana after coming into contact with a grizzly bear on a trail west of Yellowstone national park.

The state’s fish, wildlife and parks department said the woman was found deceased on Saturday on a trail near West Yellowstone, a Montana town nestled in the Custer Gallatin national forest just west of Yellowstone national park.

The woman was found “following an apparent bear encounter” based on what investigators determined were grizzly bear tracks at the scene, the department said in a statement on Sunday.

I wonder if the Grizzly didn’t go after Scout and then Abigail tried to protect Scout. Not joking.

Adventuresses Anonymous (AA) 12 steps to recovery:

1. We admitted we were powerless over adventure seeking — that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could relocate us to pavement.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all this wanderlust.

7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had caused periodic or chronic insomnia, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we found ourselves once again packing our bags, promptly unpacked.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to adventuresses, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

It could her. Look at this description:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/breaking-woman-mauled-death-yellowstone-30542742

Who was Amie Adamson?
Amie Adamson was a former English teacher who had written a book titled “Walking Out: One Teacher’s Reflections on Walking Out of the Classroom to Walk America”.

According to her book’s description, Amie embarked on a 2200-mile backpacking trip across the United States in 2015. Burned out and frustrated with the public education system, she sought restoration and reflection through the journey.

During her hike, she recorded her daily thoughts, experiences, and reflections on walking across America alone as a woman.

Her writings also include long-form essays about teaching English in modern public schools, offering insight into the challenges faced by teachers in the profession.

Combining humour and introspection, she shared her observations about the kindness of people she met along the way and the sense of contentment and peace achieved through physical challenges.

I’ll research more tonight. I’m 90% sure that’s her.

Hi AP – There’s a chance it isn’t her, too. Amie was working at a KOA campground in Yellowstone. Was Abby working at Yellowstone, too? Nothing that I saw mentions Canada travel. Amie is going to rest in Kansas. Abby didn’t mention Kansas that I recall, not that it means much. No mention of a dog in the reports. Did Abby teach in CA, like Amie did? Grasping at the straws that say it may not be Abby.

Abby did let us know that she wouldn’t be posting. Hopefully, she is enjoying her time in nature.

May Amie rest in peace and may her grieving parents find peace as well. Such a tragedy.

Back in the 1960s, no T-shirts (collared only), jeans 1 day/week. No hats. No sneakers, except when we had football pep rallies in the gym (10-11 days/yr.).

Sneakers??? Showing my age. Gen Z, they’re “tennis shoes”. Or is that passe?
