SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
Anthony Aaron, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Carmina Burana Carl Orff Volledige uitvoering in De Singel in Antwerpen 2011

Gentlemen, thanks again ever so much for this temple you provide on a Sunday to enable us to worship the Music God.

Here is a classic, HUGE piece for all to enjoy.

The Next Two Pieces Come To Us Thanks To ursel doran.

The Three Tenors – Around The World (America | Funiculì, funiculà | Brazil | Lippen schweigen)

The three tenors’ performance is superb!

Tehran Flute Choir G.Rossini/ il barbiere di siviglia

It is always exciting to find some music that is quite different from all the classical genius of long-gone composers, with the magnificence of the orchestras and solo performers. Once in a while, something exciting pops up like this flute orchestra.

This Next Piece Comes To Us Thanks To Pogrom.

My heart will go one Titanic Sarah brightman

This version of my heart will go on has always sounded a bit better to me. No offense to Celine she is really nice and down to earth for a celebrity (met her delivering pizza of all things), Sarah turned this song into something far more grand.

This Piece Comes To Us Thanks To Leah.

Shostakovich: How to Compose a Massacre

Steve C. Thanks for introducing us to another channel. In addition to the lessons, he has other treats, such as comparing metal to classical. The below isn’t that, but is a snippet from a powerful piece.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads out there.

This Next One Comes To Us Thanks To Former Mafioso nkit.

Philip Glass joue Mad Rush

I’d like to add this piece to this Sunday Morning/Night classics…

Philip Glass is an American composer and pianist. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century. Glass’s work has been associated with minimalism, being built up from repetitive phrases and shifting layers.

Beautiful music that I hope you will enjoy…

This Last Contributor Piece Comes To Us Thanks To Anonymous.

DEBUSSY – Music for OBOE and HARP – REVERIE 1/13

Anthony Aaron

Heaven’s Window – Peter Kater

Mussorgsky – Pictures at an Exhibition – Karajan

Mussorgsky composed this masterpiece originally for piano soloists … but it was later modified by Ravel for full orchestra. This performance is conducted by the legendary German conductor, Herbert von Karajan.

Holst: The Planets, Op. 32

This is actually part one of seven parts to this piece.

If you let this one run out it will automatically switch to part two, then part three etc. – Steve C

This is the entirety of ‘The Planets’, by Gustav Holst – performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Herbert von Karajan.

Steve C.

Forgive me for my fascination and affection for Yuja Wang’s superb genius skills,
but the Liszt performances can be addictive to enjoy over and over.
The complete Insanity of her talent and skills. Maybe posted before, but worth a repeat.

Two Liszt performances!!

I loved, loved, loved the Phillip Glass piece, nkit. It was so calming and I wanted to put it on repeat.

Thanks, again for bringing this wonderful respite from the doom porn of the 24/7 news cycle. It is a highlight of the week for me.

Steve – Here is a Nancy Sinatra song that I enjoyed much more than “Boots” and was also on Ed Sullivan’s show. He really had some talent come across his stage.

I just have to say – “classical music” is the REASON I gave up music as a skill set. It’s just so obnoxiously arrogant!

“Oh! It’s classical! I’m OBLIGED to say it is “superior”

I could never swallow that line of thought.

If I’m not allowed to play what’s in my heart, then fuck the whole tradition.

Yeah. I’m a hard man…with a hard beat no one wants to dance to.

Joke’s on them! Eventually they’ll ALL dance to the music I hear every day. There’s simply no avoiding it forever!

Thanks to all who contributed today. Somehow I can remember Nancy Sinatra’s performance of ‘these boots are made for walkin’ on The Ed Sullivan Show, I was only 3 years old then, we had a B&W Zenith at the time.
Of course nowadays a certain scene from ‘full metal jacket’ comes to mind each time I hear that tune.
