The Online News Act Bill C-18

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

The Canadian government does not want people sharing news stories online. The government should be the sole source of information. The Online News Act (Bill C-18) would require social media platforms and online sources to compensate Canadian news agencies for sharing news online. A report by Angus Reid found that 85% of Canadians do not subscribe to news outlets and primarily rely on the internet for information. The government cannot control what is published online (yet) but they can easily control official news agencies.

Google said the bill “breaks the way the web and search engines have worked for more than 30 years.” It prevents Canadians from freely accessing information, as those costs need to be reacquired somewhere. Any time someone interacts with a news article, the Canadian government wants a cut. In turn, major platforms such as Meta and Google have announced that they will no longer publish news articles by Canadian outlets.

“In order to provide clarity to the millions of Canadians and businesses who use our platforms, we are announcing today that we have begun the process of ending news availability permanently in Canada,” Meta said in a statement. Dictator Trudeau has made a big push toward full media censorship.

“It’s like 1984,” Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre stated. “You have a prime minister passing a law to make news articles disappear from the internet. Who would’ve ever imagined that in Canada, the federal government would pass laws banning people from effectively seeing the news? Who would’ve thought that we’d have a government that would pass a law to manipulate the algorithms of the internet?” Trudeau will continue to usurp as much power as possible at the expense of the Canadian people.

You Canadians need to make your politicians live in constant fear.
If you guys capture and torture a few of them a few days before releasing them the rest will fall back in line.

Unfortunately, we aren’t doing that here. They know we have over 400 million firearms, yet they don’t outwardly seem to care. Too bad, that.

I used to think that if a large enough group of people stood up against their “democratic” government in a peaceful protest for a long enough time, that they would bring change. That delusion was dashed in early ’22 by the Canadian government’s reaction to the freedom truckers.

They will never stand down, they will go after anyone who stands against them, as well as anyone who supports those who do.

Solzhenitsyn was wrong: communism wouldn’t have been stopped if enough people early on just stood firmly against it. At least not these days. Limited violence, even if it’s just perceived (or manipulated by the media to be perceived: eg-J6) violence will just make things worse. Threatening an individual is the worst thing you could do – the reaction will be so disproportionate that the Patriot act and Rona lockdowns will seem reasonable in comparison.

Maybe an all out war might make a difference, but then millions will end up dying, mostly on the side of the “rebels”. And with the media in their control, and people basically needing to be told what to think, such a rebellion will not gain support, and indeed be opposed by the masses. There was a time when it worked, but we’re living in a different world now.

Perhaps if it gets bad enough, soon enough, while there’s still the pretense of elections being held, the citizens might be able to think clearly enough for just that moment, and elect someone who has an infinitesimal chance of changing things… Na. That’ll never happen, and even if it does, you can’t get rid of the huge mass of non-elected bureaucracy that will do everything in their power to stand against such a person.

We are on a path to the man of sin being revealed, and nothing is going to stop it. Make sure your sins are covered by the blood of the lamb, and pray you not be around when he is.

9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit,[g] serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly.[h] Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it[i] to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Jacinda Ardern — WEF dragon lady and former prime minister of New Zealand — is now at Harvard in one of its censorship positions.

‘Ardern also is being appointed to a concurrent fellowship at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society, based at Harvard Law School. As a Knight Tech Governance Leadership Fellow, she will study ways to improve content standards and platform accountability for extremist content online, and examine artificial intelligence governance and algorithmic harms.’

Nothing like hiding censorship in a law school … great move, Harvard.

And just how is it that Harvard can hire a foreign national for a job in the US? Aren’t there plenty of US Citizens who are deeply into censorship such that Harvard could have hired them? How does Harvard skirt the immigration laws so easily?

Canada voted to re-elect Trudeau. They saw what he was doing and said “let’s have some more of that”. I think they had a better option. Obama vs Romney wasn’t much of a choice. Canadians really seem to like this guy, though. So don’t let them off the hook. Same thing here. We are surrounded by people who gladly hand over freedoms.

A further problem in Canada is the Canadian government distributes a 600 million dollar slush fund to media outlets which meet with it’s approval. Combine this with the meagre revenues most mainstream (most, not all) generate, and you can understand, sadly, why that same mainstream media is so subservient to the Trudeau/Singh alliance government.
